Brooklyn Nets 2021 Season Preview
We finally get to see the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving iteration of the Brooklyn Nets! As we go over the season preview, for Brooklyn it’s really just getting this duo to work. Here’s what you need to know with the Nets entering the 2021 NBA season.
Key Additions: Bruce Brown, Landry Shamet, Jeff Green
The Brooklyn Nets said screw the draft, we want guys that we know that can play. Bruce Brown and Landry Shamet are two guards that fit into the rotation right now. Brown is a sneaky plus defender while Shamet can handle and shot the ball. At the end of the day, Brooklyn got two contributors day one in a draft that might not provide any.
Don’t forget about Jeff Green!
Key Departures: Garrett Temple, Džanan Musa, Wilson Chandler
Garrett Temple provided a stable spark of the bench but the Nets are so deep he won’t really be missed (or shouldn’t be). Musa was more of a long term project. Wilson Chandler never really saw the floor so Green looks to be an upgrade there.
Starting Lineup: Kyrie Irving, Joe Harris, Caris LeVert, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan.
Brooklyn is still addicted to DeAndre for some reason over Jarrett Allen. Otherwise, this is a solid starting 5. LeVert is really starting to transform into a guy who could be the third star. If the Durant and Kyrie duo clicks, the Nets are dangerous. Joe Harris also landed a nice payday in free agency and is as elite of a sharpshooter as it gets in the league.
Season Outlook:
The Nets are a super deep team. I haven’t even mentioned Taurean Prince, Spencer Dinwiddie, or Tyler Johnson yet. Brooklyn has all the pieces to reach the finals and beyond. We just don’t know what we’re getting from Durant or Kyrie. They hold the cards to the Nets’ success.
