I cannot stress the importance of 3 scoring options. 3 reliable scoring options take a team from good to great. It’s one of those things that really goes under the radar but is essential to success in today’s NBA. Think of the “Big 3” era started by the Celtics and progressed more by the Heat and of course the Spurs. 3 scoring options were needed to win the titles. With this seemingly new era of basketball is more of duos, I must insist that having that 3rd option is still crucial. For the Nets, it is Caris LeVert.

Caris LeVert Stats

Caris LeVert is really a name for the real basketball fans. You either know him or you don’t. If you know him, chances are you have a lot more basketball knowledge than the casual fan. Caris LeVert is a 4th year player in the NBA. I started paying more attention to his game last year when the Nets were a borderline playoff team. He has improved every year for the Nets and hasn’t reached his ceiling. He averages 16 PPG on 41.1% shooting, 4.3 RPG, and 3.5 APG. It’s surprising that not more fans know his names for putting up pretty good stats. Of course, they are not superstar stats, but they’re enough to deserve some recognition. Caris LeVert is 3rd on the Nets for scoring and assists, almost solidifying his spot as the 3rd option for the Nets after only being back for a few games.

As a 3rd option, you could do far worse than Caris LeVert. He is the 3rd option behind Kyrie Irving and Spencer Dinwiddie. With Kevin Durant coming back next year, Caris LeVert will be a solid 4th option for the Nets. I’d like to think he can be a 20 PPG scorer if he was the 3rd option next year. But as a 4th option, I think his numbers will stay the same while Dinwiddie dips a little bit. If the Nets keep Dinwiddie that is. I’m not sure what the Nets will do with him. Either way, with Kyrie and LeVert back to playing regular minutes, the Nets should start winning games again.
