Brian Gutekunst: We’re Not Trading David Bakhtiari

What are the expectations for the Packers this year? I actually have them winning the NFC North. Time will tell if Brian Gutekunst made the right call with Jordan Love. However, if things go south for Green Bay, maybe they will further tear down the roster and trade veteran tackle David Bakhtiari for more draft capital.

Did anybody see the Instagram post that Aaron Rodgers had the other day? He’s making it well known that he would love to have his former teammate Bakhtiari with the Jets.

If you have bad eyes, click the picture. Around his Rodgers’ butt, he’s tagging Bakhtiari.

Gutekunst isn’t happy about it and was pretty quick to shut down any trade rumors. He makes it clear that the Packers aren’t trading the veteran tackle.

“First of all, we’re not going to trade David,” Gutekunst said Friday, according to USA TODAY’s Ryan Wood. “So just get that out of the way.”

Bakhtiari, 31, had struggled to stay on the field lately, but when healthy, he’s clearly one of the best tackles in football. We also know tackle is the weak spot on the Jets’ roster right now. I just talked about how the Jets screwed it up. If the Jets’ season tanks, it’s going to be because they can’t protect Rodgers.

I have no idea what’s going to happen to the Packers and Jets heading into the 2023-24 NFL Season. Both teams feel like total wildcards with a wide range of outcomes. Regardless of what happens, the losing side of the divorce with this Rodgers/Packers feud is going to be super toxic and I’m totally here for it.
