Bob Myers Joins The Commanders Front Office
The architect of the Golden State Warriors dynasty is heading to our nation’s capital. Ron Rivera is out in Washington and the Commanders are adding new leadership to their front office. Bob Myers has agreed to join the Commanders organization.
The Commanders put out a statement from Myers about joining the Commanders.
It’s worth noting that Harris also owns the 76ers. Both have NBA ties so it’s not a total surprise the two have agreed to work together.
It’s gotta be nice to be Bob Myers right now. He left the Warriors at the perfect time as their dynasty is beginning to crumble. With this deal, Myers also gets to remain with ESPN. Of course, Myers signed with ESPN shortly after leaving his job with Golden State. If he helps lead a successful rebuild in Washington with the Commanders, Myers will go down as one of the greatest executives in sports history.
The positive here is that it’s not a totally blank slate. Washington holds the second pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and should be able to get their quarterback of the future. Can Washington successfully convince a top tier coach like Jim Harbaugh or Bill Belichick to join the fold? This addition of Myers brings credibility to the franchise more than anything else.
Former Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman is also joining the organization along with Myers. Spielman was in the league for a long time with Minnesota. I imagine Myers wanted someone with experience to help guide the ship. Having the guy who picked Justin Jefferson isn’t the worst alternative to have in the room.
