Bill O’Brien is running the Texans into the ground. The decision to trade DeAndre Hopkins and a 4th round pick for David Johnson and a 2nd round pick may go down as the most laughable trade ever. At least in the last 10 years. Of course, O’Brien continues to defend the trade. He says investing in David Johnson was wise. K.
“We studied David when he was coming out of college and during his career in Arizona,” O’Brien said, via Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com. “Everybody has to go through their injuries and coaching changes. But you’re also talking about a guy who was Arizona’s Walter Payton Man of the Year. He’s tough and smart and a three-down back who can be used with Duke Johnson.”
“The contract is what it is. There is definitely money that he’ll be paid, but when we look at what David adds, he’s worth it.”
Someone needs to get Bill O’Brien a drug test NOW. This is so delusional. So you liked David Johnson in college so therefore you think that trading DeAndre Hopkins is worth it? I said this in a recent column. I’m not being fool me 4 times guy. It’s obvious O’Brien has not watched Johnson in a long time.
The second quote might be even funnier. The contract is what it is? HUH? So paying more than $13 million for a washed up running back is worth it because he said so? I don’t know what drugs that Bill O’Brien is on but he needs serious help. Even if David Johnson has tread on the tires, moving DeAndre Hopkins in the process is something a 4th grader wouldn’t be dumb enough to do.
