Barstool Sports Fires Ben Mintz
It used to be Davey Pageviews. Now it’s hashtag #DaveyNoPower? We knew that time was here but we’re getting our first real example of it now. Ben Mintz has been fired from Barstool Sports. For the first time in the history of that company, Dave Portnoy lost out on the final say in decision-making matters. Penn Entertainment dropped the hammer and told Dave who Daddy is.
Portnoy makes it very clear that if it were up to him, Mintzy would still be a member of Barstool Sports. If you have no idea what’s going on, let’s catch you up to speed. On Mintzy’s morning show, he dropped a bomb that shouldn’t be dropped under any circumstance. You could see as soon as he said it, his brain totally collapsed and went into a spiral. Since the incident, Mintzy has tried to apologize several times.
This is why Trey will never sell. I say this all the time in the company Slack. The second that I’m not the most talented / hardest working person at this company, I will resign. I do this because I want to be the best. So good that I’m going to dare every single professional sports team to hire me because they know the truth. That I’m the most talented person in this industry and it’s not close. Hopefully, we here at Vendetta have a couple of surprises for you soon.
I asked this question a little less than a year ago. When is Dave going to retire from Barstool? He’s just a regular employee now and today proved it. Portnoy is in this for money and attention at this point, nothing else. More so just attention at this point.
Penn owns Barstool outright now. In a game of short straws, Dave isn’t going to get the biggest one automatically anymore. Today he’s going to sit there and take it because this is what he signed up for. When you’re already rich but your priority is to brag about becoming mega rich because you sold your soul for it, maybe this is what you get in the end.
A lot of Barstool personalities have joined in to stick up for Mintzy.
Nobody should blame Penn for making the decision that they made. That part shouldn’t be surprising. There are consequences in life and when you work that type of job, you don’t get to have mistakes. Noise to higher ups is always bad and whatever gets it out the door the fastest will always be the approach. In the gambling industry, you are nothing without those government licenses. Giving higher ups any single reason to pull them must be avoided at all costs. It’s always going to be the way they make decisions.
This is a very pivotal moment in Barstool history. The Barstool fan base won’t like this one bit. The Chinese farmer always says maybe. Maybe this is the beginning of the end for Barstool Sports.
