Sorrell, 22, was a three star recruit coming out of high school. The New Orleans native was the 111th DL and 26th player in the state of Louisiana during the 2021 cycle. Checking in at 6-foot-3, 256, with 32 inch arms, Sorrell spent all four years with the Longhorns.

Sorrell has been the starter for the last three seasons. In 2022 and 2023, he made the Honorable Mention All-Big 12 Conference. He’s been a reliable player for Texas for a long time. Over the last three years, he has 15.5 sacks.

I came onto Sorrell late during the stock notes, but that’s mostly because they have two stud freshman you can’t take your eyes off. He’s just a guy that grows on you and was really good in the playoff. One thing about Sorrell, his athletic traits won’t blow you away, but he has a real power element. Ripping 28 reps on bench is impressive.

Speaking of the Combine, he passed that test with flying colors. More than good enough in the speed department. Definitely held his own at the Senior Bowl. Those reps against Emery Jones at the end of practice sure were memorable. Has a feel for handfighting and always brings a consistent effort to the table. 29 pressures this past year in the SEC isn’t a small number.

Barryn Sorrell isn’t exactly a horse, but the guy just runs a really good race. He’s a middle round pick for me, and he’s been available super deep into the simulators in every one that I’ve done.
