The animosity between Gareth Bale and Zinedine Zidane continues to grow. It has been apparent since the 2017-18 season that there have been problems between them. But after Real Madrid’s game on Sunday against Eibar, it showed that Bale and Zidane’s relationship continues to spoil.
It was reported that Bale was excited and doing well during the training sessions leading up to the game. However, he heard quickly that he would not be in the starting line-up. This led to him looking disinterested during warm-ups at the game.
He did go in during the second half, but he didn’t contribute much to the team’s 3-1 win. It was also reported that Zidane had a stern talk with the player during the second half cooling break.
One of their problems stems from the fact that they don’t speak the same language. This barrier has led to frustration.
Their problems started cumulating when Bale played the second half in the Champions League final in Kiev. He helped his team significantly but didn’t celebrate with Zidane after. Zidane left soon after the second half.
It is undeniable that Bale has been able to help bring talent to the team. Out of his 250 appearances he has been able to score 105 goals. Bale has also assisted in 68 goals.
The club feels that Bale has the potential to continue helping the team win trophies, so they’re not interested in selling him. The 30-year-old also has reiterated that he has no interest in leaving the team any time soon.
With that in mind, it doesn’t look like Bale will be going anywhere soon. Zidane also doesn’t look like he will be fired any time soon either. So hopefully Bale and Zidane’s relationship can be salvaged enough while they’re both still there.
