AT Perry 2023 NFL Draft Profile

AT Perry is another wide receiver we’re going to talk about in an insanely deep class. I’m not sure there is any ten pole star but Perry represents a lot of what this draft is. There are wide receivers everywhere and that’s the way the league is trending. Is the Wake Forest product one worth talking about? Let’s get right into the AT Perry 2023 NFL Draft profile!

The crazy part is I actually watched Wake Forest this year. I’m talking about a good amount because I was a Sam Hartman fan. I didn’t write a single word about Perry. Not one. I don’t recall him being impactful in any way. Take of that what you will. I didn’t really like what I saw at the Combine either. It’s all really rare for me to not include someone this highly regarded while actually watching their games. Am I missing something or are we overhyping him? I’ll be the first to admit; Perry remains a bit of a mystery.

The production over the last two years is really good. 1,293 yards in 2021 and 1,096 this past year. Over the last two years, Perry has notched 26 receiving touchdowns. Perry has gotten really good quarterback play which should be noted but he’s still doing his part.

When you really dive into it, Perry continues to be a mystery. Over the last two years, Perry has been charged for 17 drops. That’s just never going to be acceptable. The eye test matches that. The hands are shaky and I’m just not sure that’s ever going to be overcome in this instance. He’s also a zero as a blocker and the raw speed doesn’t really match the short area explosion.

You’re going to really have to invest in the tools to be a believer. The arm length is insane at over 33 inches. Perry also ran a 4.47 at 6-foot-3.5. That’s exactly the kind of project you should be willing to invest time in.

I have Perry as a later round target. The drop issues are just really hard to overlook. The tools make Perry draftable but I’m just not sure how anyone is willing to spend an arm and a leg here. Do talented Wake Forest wide receivers grow on trees? Who is the last one to make it at the NFL level? A lot of questions and not a lot of answers with this one.
