Artem Lobov Announces Retirement

It’s a sad day for fight fans all over the world as Artem Lobov is walking away from the game at 34.

The former UFC fighter and Bare Knuckle Fighting star announced Friday he would be stepping away from combat sports following a loss to Olympic silver medalist Denys Berinchyk this past weekend in a bare-knuckle bout at a Mahatch FC event in Kyiv, Ukraine. A polarizing but figure in combat sports with ties to SBG Ireland and best known for being a striker who throws with wild abandon, he was sure to deliver a fight fans would not soon forget. Lobov also appeared on The Ultimate Fighter season 22 on long-time friend Conor McGregor’s team.

“It’s true, time to close the career,” Lobov said in a statement to MMA Fighting provided by Parimatch. “There’s plenty other options and suggestions to prolong my path, but not fighting.

“In order to succeed, you have to say goodbye and concentrate on other things. Of course, I’ll be with Mahatch and the Parimatch team. All my sponsors are already family for me. I feel this support indeed. So I won’t say goodbye from all fighting activities, but I need to finish my career as a fighter.”

Artem Lobov finishes his career in MMA with a 14-15-1 (1 NC) record and a 2-2 record in Bare-Knuckle. Highly regarded as the Greatest Of All Time, I know I speak for fight fans all over the world in saying thank you for everything you’ve done, and it has been a pleasure watching you fight for all the years. The Russian Hammer will be greatly missed.
