Are we just going to ignore the fact that Mike Fiers was just mad the Astros didn’t re-sign him? (AP/Chris Szagola)

The Astros cheating scandal turned into the Salem Witch Hunt trials. One day Mike Fiers tried to get his former organization in trouble. The next day the manager and gm are fired and Houston is penalized at an extreme level. This entire scandal is a crock of shit and I”m not over it if you haven’t figured it out already. I have another question today. Are we just going to ignore the fact that Mike Fiers was just mad the Astros didn’t re-sign him? It’s the only reason Houston got penalized.

Do you want to hear something embarrassing? This is the 9 page report from Rob Manfred. It’s the most unorganized jumbled mess I’ve ever seen. Clearly doesn’t know how to write but let’s ignore that for a second. I just want you to read the first sentence.

If you don’t feel like reading the whole thing, this is the first sentence:

“On November 12, 2019, former Houston Astros player Mike Fiers publicly alleged in an article published by Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic that the Astros had engaged in sign-stealing methods in 2017 that violated MLB’s rules.”

A: 36 long word sentence. Bit of a jumbled mess but that’s expected from, Rob. He can barely speak so why would I expect him to be able to write. Yes, I’m going to make fun of him. He’s the commissioner of baseball that runs a multi-billion dollar company so shut up.

B: THE FIRST SENTENCE OF HIS REPORT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT MLB FOUND! It’s boy who cried wolf, Mike Fiers that was upset he didn’t get re-signed by the Astros. This investigation started because he tattled on his own team. Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich picked the story up. In fact, Drellich is the only reason the Sox are in trouble because he was a team reporter for them and connected some dots to get them in trouble. The Astros (and to a much lesser extent, the Red Sox) are only in trouble because some disgruntled player decided he was going to tattle and get his former team in trouble.

What are we in 4th grade? It would be like that kid who tattled on a kid in his class for cheating on a test (except it’s different because there’s no official rule against sign stealing). This is about the way the teacher handled it. If the teacher wasn’t smart enough to figure it out, then that kid shouldn’t be punished. Manfred decided to be the teacher that suddenly acts like Mr. tough guy and gets the kid expelled from school. It’s so pathetic.

In 2018, Fiers was not retained by the Astros. Instead, he signed with division rival, Oakland. He did what he thought would hurt his old team because he was mad. Are we just going to ignore that fact?

Manfred is such a moron. Here’s the funniest part of his report. He cites that the use of technology is illegal in order to steal signs. Yet two sentences later attempted to insinuate that the use of banging on a trash can is also illegal. Maybe trash cans became technology. The world is changing who knew. Maybe I’ll try calling an uber with a trash can today.
