Anthony Davis: I Will Hold LeBron James Accountable On The Defensive End

Anthony Davis AND LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to get torched on the defensive end of the floor this year. They don’t have a player on the roster outside of maybe Danny Green who is a plus defender. Anthony Davis doesn’t agree with that sentiment. Davis is challenging himself to win defensive player of that year and become a leader on that end of the floor.

Just wait. It didn’t stop there. Anthony Davis wants to be such a leader that he’s going to hold LeBron James accountable for his lack of defense. I know, try not to laugh. He’s serious:

via Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports:

“I want to be Defensive Player of the Year,” Davis told Yahoo Sports. “I think if I’m able to do that, I can help this team win. The offensive end will come around, but defensively, I want to hold myself, teammates, including LeBron, accountable in order for us to take on the challenge of being the best we can defensively. In doing so, we’ll have a good chance of winning every night. I want to make sure me and LeBron are on the All-Defensive Team. And for me personally, I just want to be the Defensive Player of the Year. If we’re able to hold teams under 100 [points], which is probably unrealistic but it should be our goal, I think we’ll have a shot at winning the title.”

Good luck, Brow. This is totally delusional. LeBron exerted basically zero effort on the defensive end last year. The game against the Grizzlies really stands out. It was borderline quitting. Saying LeBron checked out would be putting it nicely. He tried so little last year that he was arguably a worse defender than Isaiah Thomas who is 2 feet tall.

LeBron teams have always been a nightmare defensively. Even the Cavs teams that reached the Finals got cooked on that end. I can still see teams running the whoever offense on Kyle Korver. Name a good defender on this team. Don’t say Davis either. He’s such a pussy that he won’t even play center. Too bad the Lakers don’t have a 6-foot-10 former number overall pick to play center after DeMarcus Cousins went down. Real Shame. I’m still convinced that Anthony Davis will become Kevin Love playing with LeBron James.
