Andrew Berry has had eyes for Elijah Moore for a while, and now, he is finally with the Browns. The Browns recently traded for the young receiver this offseason. Now, Berry has revealed that the Browns have been hunting for Moore since last year, but the Jets wouldn’t budge, according to PFT.
“They were pretty adamant that they weren’t looking to move him [then],” Berry said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, via PFT.
Moore had a lot of ups and downs in his time with the Jets. In his rookie season, Moore showed a lot of promise as a receiver. Moore caught 43 balls on 77 targets last season for a total of 538 receiving yards and five touchdown grabs, including a 62-yard catch and run on the season. All of this happened in only 11 games.
In his sophomore year, Moore played 16 games. In those 16, Moore caught fewer passes than his rookie year (37) on fewer targets (65) too. He accumulated a total of 446 receiving yards and a measly one touchdown catch.
Moore showed his frustration with the Jets in requesting a trade last season. That request would eventually be fulfilled this season with the Browns. Moore requested this trade due to lack of targets during games. This could be because of extremely bad quarterback play from the Jets last season.
But, to Moore’s happiness, he is now out with the old and in with the new. Hopefully, Berry’s desire for Moore will be worth it in production value from the young gun. The 22-year-old receiver has proven he can be a valuable piece to any receiving core that is thrown at him.
