AEW Rampage Preview (11/4/22): Rampage Gets Absolute
AEW Rampage has very little announced for the show. In fact, there have only been two matches announced for the show. But with Full Gear quickly approaching, it’s likely that they will add some matches to the card during this show. It’s no secret that AEW doesn’t view Rampage the same way they do as Dynamite. Just look at how the shows get booked. This week’s Dynamite featured some of the top stars in the company and Rampage doesn’t. So, let’s take a look at what to expect.
Special Guest Commentator
AEW announced they will have a special guest commentator for AEW rampage. Mike Tyson will be joining the broadcast team to call the show. It’s unclear if he will call the entire thing or do a portion. Tyson has appeared in the professional wrestling world a couple of times throughout his life, but this will be the second time he appears in AEW. While it feels a bit random, it will be interesting to see what he gets involved in.
We Hear From Ricky Starks
We are set to hear from “Absolute” Ricky Starks. Starks hasn’t appeared since he last wrestled on AEW Dark almost a month ago. Ricky Starks is one of the best on the mic in AEW, so fans are excited to hear what he has to say. He’s coming off a string of losses to his former best friend Powerhouse Hobbs, so I am assuming he will address what the future holds for him on AEW Rampage.
Madison Rayne & Skye Blue vs Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter
Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter issued an open challenge this past week on Dynamite. They said they just want to wrestle and challenged anyone to face them in a tag team match. So Skye Blue and Madison Rayne answered the call. Blue has been mostly competing on AEW Dark and AEW Dark Elevation. But she’s a young prospect in AEW with a bright future. However, she and Madison Rayne are 0-2 as a tag team in AEW.
Britt Baker is currently having her differences with Saraya. Baker was supposed to have a sit-down interview with her and Renee Paquette on Dynamite but she blew it off. Jamie Hayter has been feuding with the AEW Women’s Champion, Toni Storm, and will face her for the title at Full Gear. So with a lot going on with Baker and Hayter, they need to stay focused on this match. A loss here will absolutely destroy all momentum they have.
AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match
Katsuyori Shibata vs Orange Cassidy (c)
Orange Cassidy has been defending his All-Atlantic Championship frequently since winning it. This will be his third title defense, the first two were triple-threat matches against some of the top wrestlers in AEW. The winner of the last triple threat match got to have their dream match for the title, so Orange Cassidy chose Katsuyori Shibata. Shibata came to the aid of Cassidy after PAC was going to attack him following his title match. Cassidy immediately rewarded Shibata with a title opportunity.
Shibata is a professional wrestling veteran. He has competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and Pro Wrestling NOAH in his career. He’s held a few different championships in his career and has been very successful. So, Cassidy has his work cut out for him if he wants to walk out of AEW Rampage with his title.
