AEW Dynamite Preview (8/17/22): Rare Mach Stipulation Set
AEW Dynamite is set to feature some good matches. At the time of writing, there have only been four matches announced, but AEW usually adds more. Fans are in-store for an ultimate grudge match and possibly a huge return. Here’s everything to expect heading into AEW Dynamite.
Toni Storm vs KiLynn King
Toni Storm is looking to improve her win/loss record by defeating KiLynn King. Storm is currently the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the women’s division boasting a record of 13-3 while going 9-2 in her singles career. She and Thunder Rosa are coming off of a tag team loss to Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. Storm is looking to keep her spot at the top of the rankings by coming out with a victory. King has wrestled in AEW before appearing on AEW Dark tapings, while also wrestling for NWA and CCW. She is a two-time CCW Women’s Champion and currently holds the world title. Ultimately, King is looking to shock the world by defeating a name as big as Storm’s, while Storm has all of the pressure on her to beat King and continue her dominance in AEW.
Varsity Blonds vs Gunn Club
Both of these teams have had a tough go of things recently. Since the Gunn Club suffered an embarrassing loss to the Acclaimed in a dumpster match and Varsity Blonds were destroyed by Luchasaurus, both teams need a victory. These are two teams that have been with AEW for a while and have accumulated a lot of wins, so they know what it takes to get the job done. The Gunn Club are trying to impress their father, Billy Gunn, by being able to work together and pick up some wins. Meanwhile, Varsity Blonds haven’t competed in almost a month. They are going to need to shake off any rust and be firing on all cylinders.
Andrade el Idolo, Rush, & Dragon Lee vs The Young Bucks & Mystery Partner
AEW announced trios titles back in July and this is the first match in the tournament. Andrade el Idolo and Rush have been on a tear lately. They have taken the mask of both the Lucha Bros and beat them in a tag team match. They are looking to pick up a huge win against the Young Bucks and a Mystery Partner. The Young Bucks were turned on by Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly a couple weeks ago. They are searching for a third member of the trio, so they asked Hangman Page, but he declined. Page said he wanted to help the Dark Order win, so that was why. The Young Bucks still don’t have a partner, but it is going to be revealed on AEW Dynamite.
2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match
Bryan Danielson (of Blackpool Combat Club) vs Daniel Garcia (of Jericho Appreciation Society)
Bryan Danielson returned from injury in late July, facing and eventually falling to Daniel Garcia in his first match in about two months. Garcia shocked the world by beating Danielson and made a huge statement. The two are facing off again, but this time it’s a 2-out-of-3 falls match. The winner is decided by whoever picks up two victories first. AEW doesn’t have this match stipulation often, so it is exciting to see.
The pair have similar styles of wrestling. Garcia and Danielson are really good technical wrestlers, but also can deliver some hard-hitting shots. Garcia is almost half the age of Danielson, but you wouldn’t be able to tell — his in-ring skills go beyond his years of wrestling. Garcia is looking to prove that his first win wasn’t a fluke and that he can beat the best wrestlers in the world.
