Adam Gase does not like Le’Veon Bell. Actually, hate would be the more accurate word. It’s not a secret that Gase didn’t want Bell. As the season has gone on, the relationship has just gotten worse. It sounds less and less likely that Bell is going to be in New York in 2020 despite how prohibitive his contract is.
Here’s what Gase said to the media during the team exit interviews:
He’s under contract for three more years … You can ask Joe (Douglas) tomorrow.”
Le’Veon responded in a way that only Lev Bell would.
I’m on Gase’s side here. Le’Veon Bell stinks. He’s full on Maurice Clarrett. Bell finished the season with 3.2 yards per carry. C’Mon now. Why would Gase want him back? Bell is done, done. Got his money and then decided to stink. Gase never wanted him. He got stuck with him because Mike MacCagnan was the one dummy to give Bell the money.
On the other hand, you could argue Bell here. Gase has been a real ass in New York. He doesn’t care that the team is losing one bit. Guys like DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki are finally flourishing in Miami without Gase. Hell, Ryan Tannehill actually looks legit too. Maybe it’s Gase that doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.
Regardless, the Jets are such a mess. Only the Jets would have something like this going on for everyone to see on Twitter. That’s the Jets for you. Only Sam Darnold can save them now. Let’s hope Joe Douglas does a good job this offseason and puts a good team around him for once. Knowing the Jets, they will let Robby Anderson walk, fail to address the offensive line, and overpay some bum in typical Jets fashion.
