Abdul Carter 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Abdul Carter is next up on the to-do list for the 2025 NFL Draft profile series. The Penn State product is universally viewed as one of the best players in this class, and you’re not going to get any disagreements from me on this one. Let’s get into why that’s the case.

Carter, 21, checks in at 6-foot-3, 250. The Philadelphia native was viewed as a four star prospect coming out of the state of Pennsylvania. He spent all three years at Penn State and, oddly enough, essentially followed the same career trajectory as Micah Parsons.

The Penn State edge rusher, like Parsons, started his career as an off-ball linebacker. Once Chop Robinson left for the draft last year, Carter switched to full time edge rusher. The accolades here speak for themself. Some of those accolades include Freshman All-American, First-team All-Big Ten in 2023, In 2024, he made the First-team Associated Press All-American and was named as Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

So yeah… pretty good. Oh, don’t forget about 61 pressures and 23.5 tackles for loss this past year. Just a ridiculous number for any edge rusher.

Again, the production here does a lot of the talking. This past year, Carter notched 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and four pass deflections. The stock notes at the top, you can find a lot of this information there. I don’t recall a bad game the guy had minus Josh Conerly doing a fairly good job blocking him. Otherwise, the guy was a menace all year. Late in the season, he was clearly hurt and was ragdolling guys with one arm in the college football playoff.

No Combine performance here to work with, but I’m not sure one is necessary here. A lot of this stuff is American Idol. It doesn’t take very long to figure out if someone can sing. If you can’t see Abdul Carter, it’s probably because you’re blind. He’s been on my radar for years and if you recall, I said in many videos last cycle, teams should be trading down to collect picks in order to chase Carter.

Stupid first step quickness. A total chess piece who can stand up and literally play linebacker. Truly the type of edge player who tilts the field, and those guys just don’t grow on trees.

Carter should be viewed as a blue chip prospect heading into this process and is one of the best players in the draft. I’m not sure how to say it any other way.
