Aaron Rodgers is done flirting. He’s no longer ready to scratch that itch for another partner. He wants to stick it out in cold, ownerless Green Bay that can’t provide any real punch with its roster. At the end of the day, Rodgers got the check he wanted and will ride out into the sunset with the team that drafted him.
Rodgers has signed a MONSTER extension with Green Bay. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had the news:
Rodgers, 38, is now the highest paid player in NFL history. A $50 million per year check will just about do the trick. Rodgers smashed the quarterback contract market with this new deal. The only issue is Green Bay already had cap issues and another raise for Rodgers won’t really help matters.
Rodgers considered retirement and the Broncos. At the end of the day, he took this bag of a check from the Packers. Is it the right move? That depends on what you think of the Packers roster. Can the Packers win a title with Rodgers under center? My answer would be no unless the roster improves. As of right now, they’re beating up on the NFC North which inflates how good they really are.
Where does Jordan Love stand in this process? Will the Packers consider trading him? Is that part of the deal? Does Rodgers even care?
The only thing that’s clear now is that Rodgers can be crossed off the list. He’s not going anywhere. Teams like Denver will have to pursue plan B. Russell Wilson?
