Aaron Boone: Scared Of The Orioles After The Corbin Burnes Trade?
Is Aaron Boone scared of the Baltimore Orioles? After all, it was the O’s who won a loaded AL East in 2023 with 101 wins. Oh, and now they just added Corbin Burnes via trade.
The Yankees manager weighed in on the Burnes trade. He sounds like a scaredy cat.

“That can be a little bit of a problem,” Boone said via The Athletic. “That was my first reaction. He’s obviously an amazing pitcher going to a great team. We’ll see a lot of him and look forward to competing against the best, though.”
The only addition the Yankees made to their rotation was signing Marcus Stroman. If anything, the Yankees rotation may have taken a step back after losing Michael King in the Juan Soto trade. Well, King says the Padres won that trade anyway.
Boone is right about one thing. The Yankees will probably see a lot of Burnes next year. Burnes will likely get plugged in as the ace in the rotation in Baltimore. A man they may have to go through in a postseason series.
Burnes, 29, was acquired for DL Hall, shortstop Joey Ortiz, and a Competitive Balance pick.
Credit to the new ownership group in Baltimore. They’re not messing around. Now it’s time to get some of that young talent extended. Just like what the Royals just did today with Bobby Witt Jr.
