Steve Dangle is leaving Sportsnet

Steve Dangle is moving on to greener pastures. The diehard Toronto Maple Leafs fan is quitting his role at Sportsnet in order to focus on his SDPN media company, he announced Wednesday. It was nine very good years as Steve went from a behind-the-scenes guy to one of their key contributors.

As he stated in the video, he did a lot for Sportsnet. I for one highly recommend his Trade Tree videos, as they are incredibly detailed and a great watch. In his words, he’s “betting” on SDPN.

He’s gonna be riding with Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake for the foreseeable future. The fact of the matter is he was asked to create a lot of content for Rogers: YouTube videos, TV appearances, radio spots and more.

You could clearly tell that this was not an easy decision, as Steve was incredibly grateful to his bosses and everyone he crossed paths with. He also confirmed that he will continue doing LFR, which is a game-by-game breakdown of the Leafs’ season.

Dangle’s decision is indicative of the Maple Leafs as a whole. Despite finally winning a playoff series against the Lightning, the Florida Panthers then knocked them out in five games. The result of them going all-in and failing cost Kyle Dubas his job.

Dangle laid out his hopes and plans for SDPN as well. They’re planning on only growth from here on out: More shows, more employees, more benefits, more everything. While his focus is on his company, he did not close the door to future opportunities in other places. But, for now, he’s 100 percent in on SDPN.

Steve Dangle is one of the biggest names in the hockey media world. But now, he is betting on himself. He has left Sportsnet and is working full-time at his SDPN company.
