Kevin White lite? Kevin White except going to cost way less but actually has real potential? That’s what we could be looking at with Bryce Ford-Wheaton. It’s not meant to be a slight either. Ford-Wheaton is actually an intriguing piece but has a huge level of variance for what he could be at the next level. Let’s get right into the Bryce Ford-Wheaton 2023 NFL Draft profile!
West Virginia is in shambles right now and that needs to be mentioned. Their coach is going to get fired any minute and it’s not like this was the most conducive environment to thrive. I have stock report notes on Ford-Wheaton in the game against Pitt. He made a ridiculous circus catch and really carried their aerial attack.
Ford-Wheaton should be viewed as a total lump of clay. How about a less polished version of DJ Chark? If you build a wide receiver in a lab, this is how it would look. 6-foot-4, 221, and over 33-inch arms. Oh, and he runs a 4.38 with a 41-inch vertical. The route tree is limited but who was the coach really helping him?
Again, the production isn’t going to blow you away but I advise you to consider the circumstance. BFW notched 62 receptions for 675 yards and seven scores. Really thrived as a red zone threat as well. Doesn’t really get bullied ever. Is very much a plus blocker as well.
At the end of the day, I have Bryce Ford-Wheaton as a 4th round guy. I really like him and is someone I envision developing into a much better player down the road. There is a chance he never figures it out but the skillset is really intriguing.
