You don’t have to be an NFL fan to care for players’ well-being during a situation like what we saw last night. During the Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and needed CPR and an AED administered to him. Hamlin is now being treated at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The game would eventually be postponed and has yet to be rescheduled, if it will at all.
Once the game was over, both teams’ players and even the fans stood outside the hospital where Hamlin was taken and stayed together in prayer. If that doesn’t give you goosebumps, maybe this will.
During all this, Damar Hamlin’s “Chasing M’s” toy foundation’s GoFundMe started to spread like wildfire across social media. The original goal for the foundation’s fundraiser was $2,500. As of this morning, they have received over $4 million in donations, all since last night. The swell in donations is incredible to see as people all over the world have come together to help such a good cause.

It is heartwarming to see this type of support from everyone during a time like this. The entire situation, from the commentators and the crew at ESPN being put in an impossible situation and handling it with class, to the NFL deciding to postpone the game, and the fans and players praying outside the hospital, has restored my faith in some people.
Vendetta Sports Media will continue to send our thoughts and prayers to the Hamlin family as we hope for the best and a speedy recovery.
