It’s the end of an era. Three presidencies flushed down the toilet. Rico Bosco is leaving Barstool Sports and there are more questions than answers that need to start being asked. Who is going to replace Rico on the Pick Em Podcast and could that man be Deion Sanders? It’s worth asking the question.
We have already identified several candidates that could replace Rico on the Pick Em show. Barstool could opt to kill the show but that’s an avenue I’m sure they would love to avoid. Are they really willing to let Rico pet their belly and admit defeat that they can’t do the show without him? I’m sure that’s a scenario Dave Portnoy would like to avoid.
Could the next replacement be Deion Sanders? The new head coach of the University of Colorado is technically still on the Barstool payroll. Deion also does the Pro Football Football Show (which I don’t think has any stand-alone value but that’s just my take). Could Deion expand his role to start talking more college football?
Why not ditch the NFL content? Deion is already the head coach of a major University in the Pac 10. At this point, what is doing NFL content accomplishing? Maybe there is a creative way where Deion can talk college ball without blasting rival teams. That right there is the only major hurdle. A very major hurdle but one that can be worked around. If Sanders is smart with this approach, it could be a major leg up in recruiting. Especially if he’s able to show recruits how smart he is.
Barstool is going to have a really hard time replacing Rico Bosco. A creative way that’s guaranteed to bring in viewers is by having Prime Time as the new host. Given Prime’s new status in college football, people are going to want to tune in.
