David Ortiz and Jared Carrabis Start A Podcast: Call Him Papi
Barstool Sports already has a successful podcast network, and today announced they are adding another mega-star from the sports world for a brand new show. Call Him Papi will feature David Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox Legend, and Jared Carrabis, arguably the biggest Red Sox fan on the internet.
Carrabis announced the move proudly on Twitter with a very simple statement. “I Have A Podcast With David Ortiz Now” and followed up with a long-winded blog about how great of a day it is for him. He is already the host of the “number one baseball podcast” Starting 9, as well as Section 10.
Ortiz, who was never one to shy away from the microphone during his playing days, jumped right into the studio after he retired. He immediately joined national baseball coverage for the playoffs and has since turned into a national legend in addition to being a Boston folk hero.
One of the writers here, Alex Chick III, wrote a blog yesterday about Aqib Talib’s disappointing new podcast. In this post, he points out how nearly every celebrity and athlete now has a podcast and most of them are the same boring garbage. I do not expect that to be the reaction to Carrabis and Big Papi however. Both are super unfiltered and the fact that the podcast is being produced by Barstool means that the pair will not have executives hanging over their heads to watch their every word.
I guess Carrabis will not be leaving Barstool Sports anytime soon.
