This Is The Second Significant Fan Incident In The Bronx This Week: What Has Gotten Into Yankee Fans?
The New York Yankees have heavily underperformed this year, so I understand why fans would be upset about their team’s play. But to spit on an opposing fan at your home ballpark? Come on. This Yankees fan must have been drunk out of his mind because there is no reasonable explanation for a sane and sober individual doing something like this.
Yankees Fan Down Bad Or Just Stupid
As reported by NESN yesterday, the fan happened to be Jason Varitek’s daughter.
To make matters even worse, the girl was 9 years old. 9 YEARS OLD!! You have got to be kidding me. This Yankees fan is making us look worse than the fans in Boston. He is not alone either – another fan chucked a baseball at Alex Verdugo’s head last week.
Fortunately, that fan has been banned from all ballparks in the MLB for life, as he should. Usually, when you hear about these crazy fans, their actions do not involve spitting on a child or throwing a baseball at a player. These guys in the outfield already get it bad enough from the Yankees fans, and now they have to worry about balls getting hurled at them? However, all of this will never add up to the number of things that have happened with Boston fans over the years.
Shut Up, Boston Fans
If there is any group that is not in the position to complain about the reprehensible actions of Yankees fans, it is Boston fans, as Fenway Park has a history of racist incidents coming from home fans. There are so many incidents that I will not bother making a list of them, but I encourage you to look them up for yourself. With all that said, I am obviously upset with a Yankees fan that would do this. Yes, we are all raucous, passionate, and occasionally disrespectful, but most Yankees fans would never harm opposing players or spit on anyone, especially a child. These actions are inexcusable and should NEVER happen again.
