Hey, Logan Mullen. I Officially Challenge You On Your Spicy Rondale Moore Take

Story Time.

I read NESN (New England Sports Network) a lot. As a Boston sports fan (minus the Patriots) I like to read stories on the Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics. NESN is also the television host for the Red Sox and Bruins games who I frequently watch. It doesn’t take long before you get to know some of their personalities.

I was previously unaware of who Logan Mullen was. He could be a hot shot intern for all I know. The only thing I do know is I officially have a bone to pick with him.

Mr. Mullen wrote a story titled: ‘2021 NFL Draft Preview: Here Are Four Early Round Bust Candidates‘. From the tone of the post, I’m not even sure if Mullen is passionate about the draft. He didn’t seem overly confident in his selections for potential busts. Nevertheless, he listed Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Micah Parsons, and Rondale Moore as potential busts. K.

The Wilson one is low hanging fruit. Even if he’s talented enough to make it, the Jets are picking him. I’m not sure Jesus is winning that battle to overcome the Jets. Lance has one year of starting experience. Sure, maybe he flops. Apparently, Parsons has character concerns. Sure, maybe he’s nuts like Reuben Foster. IDK.

BUT… Don’t come at my man Rondale Moore. Now we have to hash things out, Mr. Mullen. First, we need to analyze this quote:

Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue — He’s an exciting athlete, gifted with impressive speed. But he effectively was a gadget player at Purdue, and some team definitely is going to take him in the first round hoping all those Tyreek Hill comparisons come to pass.

Hey, maybe they will. But expecting him to be that might be a little unfair to the player.”

A: Four total sentences? Going to have to do better than that. Did you just write this post for SEO purposes to please the bosses?

B: This idea that Moore is a lock to be taken in the first round is false. In our site-wide mock draft, the Purdue wide receiver was not taken in the first round. Ja’Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, Rashod Bateman, Elijah Moore, and Terrace Marshall all went ahead of him in our site mock.

Now, I would have picked Moore with the 33rd pick controlling the Jags in our simulation. Point being, maybe Moore goes in the first. Maybe he doesn’t. However, this idea that he’s a slam dunk lock to go in round one is laughable.

C: Who is comparing Rondale Moore to Tyreek Hill? Who’s making that comp? Who said that? Show me the person that said that.

Now, I’ve compared him to Deebo Samuel who was taken at the top of the second round by the 49ers. Samuel has been a home run for San Francisco when healthy. If Moore turns into that type of player and is taken in a similar draft range, that team will be very happy.

D: Maybe we shouldn’t trust the sports network responsible for covering Bill Belichick. Maybe it’s a New England thing. They’re not very good at spotting wide receiver talent in the draft. I can promise you Rondale Moore is better than that joke that is N’Keal Harry.

Tell you what, Logan. Come up with the terms of a gentleman’s bet and I’ll accept. In fact, here are my wide receiver rankings. You can pick one guy listed lower than Moore and we will compare their careers. Put your reputation on the line. I do every day. We’ll see who’s the real draft expert. That’s, in reality, giving you favorable terms. In my head, the term “bust” details what I called JJ Arcega-Whiteside. Someone that can’t play a lick. I’ll be waiting for your phone call.

My advice? Don’t take the bet. It usually doesn’t end well for the person not named Trey. Just ask the Trubisky believers.
