Jared Carrabis Responds to Dave Portnoy – “Starting 9 is Number One”

Jared Carrabis, the host of Starting 9 went on The Dave Portnoy Show with Eddie and Co. to respond to some of his most recent criticism.

About a week after things got a bit hairy for Carrabis in the Barstool universe, he made his way back to the New York office to have a sit down with CEO Erika Nardini. On that show a week prior he was called out by Nardini for making promises that he didn’t keep. He said he would be in the office more and that didn’t end up happening.

That is why Carrabis also went on Dave Portnoy’s podcast, and he responded publicly to the criticism of his podcast’s growth.

“What really pissed me off was saying that Starting 9 is not growing. That’s damaging, now people that hate us will have ammo to be like ‘you can’t grow a podcast’ or ‘your podcast sucks.’
And then a few days later I tweeted out the charts. Starting 9 is number one, it’s the number one baseball podcast. I don’t think you can go higher than number one”

He is not wrong, you can not go higher than number one. His national baseball podcast is the most listened to show in the space, but he still knows there is room to grow. Carrabis also noted how it is hard to criticize employees for not being in New York anymore when Portnoy himself is not there.

This is not the first time Carrabis has heard criticism about his lack of “team effort.” He was called out by name in a company-wide email about the lack of participation in the Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions. He said the reason he does not come to the office is that he is less productive while amongst co-workers.
