Zach Ertz Vanished Into Dust

What the hell happened to Zach Ertz? That’s pretty much what everyone is saying who owns Ertz in fantasy. You want to talk about an absolute disaster? That’s Ertz right now.

Zach Ertz has vanished into dust. Heading into the season, the former Stanford product was a bonafide top-five tight end. Now? Ertz has gone full-blown witness protection. I’m not sure if anybody can find him in an Eagles offense desperate for weapons.

On the season, Ertz has 24 receptions for 178 yards and a score. Ertz is averaging 29.7 yards per game. Sure, he’s getting doubled team a lot, but that’s the reality for George Kittle too. There’s no excuse here.

Travis Fulgham has 284 yards in three games. If you polled ten people, nobody would know who Fulgham was. Hell, I’m not sure ten people knew Old Dominion had a football program.

What’s worse is that Dallas Goedert has been the better player. Goedert is more explosive after the catch, and before the injury, he was putting up better numbers. Goedert was outproducing Ertz while playing the second fiddle.

Now Ertz is hurt with a high ankle sprain and will miss 4-6 weeks. General manager Howie Roseman has put this team into salary cap hell. It feels like Ertz’s time in Philadelphia could be coming to a close, especially when you have a younger and cheaper Goedert on the roster.

Ertz is now out of the lineup, leaving Carson Wentz with nothing. Once again, the pieces around Wentz are crumbling. His weapons are in disarray, and the offensive line is crumbling. Wentz deserves better.
