Ken Rosenthal Can Shove His Triston Casas Trade Idea Up His Ass

If you have been reading this site for any extended period of time, you know I can’t stand the fake trade aggregators. Bill Simmons is a disgrace and anybody who thinks that guy is smart is also a disgrace. Ken Rosenthal did his best Bill Simmons impression and as far as I’m concerned, he can shove his trade idea up his ass.

In his latest piece for The Athletic (A trashbag network that continues not to turn a profit and spreads lies through a paywall.) Rosenthal came up with an incredibly dumb idea. He thinks the Red Sox should trade Triston Casas, which is a non-starter to anyone who has a brain.

“Picture Alex Bregman playing third base for the Boston Red Sox next season. Wait, what about Rafael Devers? Move him to first. What about Triston Casas? Trade him for a starting pitcher of comparable ability and service, maybe one from the Seattle Mariners,” Rosenthal said.

Red Sox receive: RHP George Kirby, UTIL Dylan Moore

Mariners receive: 1B Triston Casas, OF Miguel Bleis, INF Mikey Romero

.

Do I even need to explain why this is idiotic? Fine… I’ll do it anyway since SEO requires me to get this to 300 words.

A: Are we sure giving 30-year-old Alex Bregman a massive contract is a good idea?

B: The Red Sox have a third baseman. His name is Rafael Devers and nobody is better than him.

C: Casas is about as untouchable as it gets. It’s only a matter of time before he’s the next Matt Olson. You don’t trade a first baseman cornerstone like that.

D: If you’re going to trade Casas, it’s not for George Kirby… who currently sports an above average 3.53 ERA with way less years of remaining control.

E: If you’re going to trade Casas for Kirby (which is already dumb) why is Seattle also getting Miguel Bleis AND Mikey Romero? Bleis is maybe the biggest upside bat in the system. Romero was a first round pick two years ago, skipped out on LSU to sign with Boston, and his bat really heated up in the second half.

Sorry, not sorry, but Ken Rosenthal should be slapped for this and nobody with an ounce of intelligence is taking him seriously here.

  • Triston Casas and George Kirby each have four years of team control (although Kirby enters his first year of arbitration as a Super Two).

Baseball Trade Values currently assigns Casas $28.8 million in surplus value and Kirby $86.1 million in surplus value.

The Mariners won’t return calls on that trade proposal.
