2020 Fantasy Football: Running Back Sleepers

Running Back Sleepers

Running Back Sleepers
2020 Fantasy Football: Running back sleepers. Which RB’s should you keep tabs on that could potential turn into steals for your fantasy team? (MATT SUNDAY / DKPS)

Running Back sleepers can often save your fantasy team. Picking the right fliers at the position saves you during the course of a season with bye weeks. The 2020 fantasy football season will be no different. We’re going over deep sleepers. Running backs you can get late or very cheap in drafts. Who should you keep an eye on for this year?

Cam Akers (Rams)

Cam Akers needs to be on everyone’s radar. Don’t ask me why he’s so low in every ranking out there. Akers averaged 4.9 yards per carry in his college career. 3.9 of it came AFTER contact. Akers played behind a terrible offensive line in college. This man is a star. Draft him and thank me later. The Rams have vacated the most carries in the NFL with Gurley’s departure. This one is easy.

Jordan Howard (Dolphins)

Jordan Howard is so disrespected. The former Indiana product averaged 4.6 yards per carry last year with the Eagles. Miami signed Howard to be their workhorse back. The Dolphins leading rusher last year was Ryan Fitzpatrick. The opportunity is there and Miami should be way more competitive. This is such a low risk pick for what will be a starting running back getting most of the work.

Tevin Coleman (49ers)

I love Raheem Mostert and Kyle Shanahan. Sign me up for all of it. However, what happens if Tevin Coleman takes the lead role over again? It would be foolish to rule that out. From Week’s 4-7, Coleman scored 5 touchdowns. This is an offense you want to be part of. If Mostert goes down, Coleman can be a top 10 back. If Mostert doesn’t, there’s still a chance Coleman is still VERY much part of the offense. There’s no downside here.

Boston Scott (Eagles)

Boston Scott is good. I don’t care if he was a waiver claim or not. Scott had 5 touchdowns in 61 attempts. The Eagles trust him at the goal line and he is a great pass catcher. We also talked about in the past that Doug Pederson loves using committees. Miles Sanders isn’t getting every touch here.

Benny Snell / Anthony McFarland (Steelers)

I’m not convinced James Conner is going to be the star here. I could be wrong here but I’ll take the gamble that Benny Snell or Anthony McFarland emerges. Conner has been hurt the last two years. Snell was serviceable as a rookie last year and McFarland is a prospect I really like.

Ryquell Armstead (Jaguars)

Leonard Fournette is in a contract year. I’m not sure which guy we’re getting. I’m not even sure Fournette likes football. What I do know is I like Ryquell Armstead. It’s a bad offense and now Chris Thompson will likely get passing game work. If Fournette struggles or gets hurt (which has happened in the past) give me Armstead.
