Los Angeles Rams 2020 Training Camp Preview

The Los Angeles Rams are screwed until the Jared Goff contract runs out but we still have to preview the team. Sean McVay has taken Goff as far as he can go and now the team has hamstrung from a cap standpoint. The Rams window is over but McVay will do his part to keep the team competitive. As training camp is set to open, let’s take a look at what the LA Rams will bring to the table in 2020.

3 Position Battles To Watch:

Tight End: Brycen Hopkins, Tyler Higbee, Gerald Everett

The tight end room was already muddy and now it added a third name. Why draft Brycen Hopkins in the 4th round to not use him? Tyler Higbee was a different guy with and without Gerald Everett on the field. The same guy who Sean McVay said he wants Everett on the field more. Good luck figuring this out.

WR 3: Josh Reynolds vs Van Jefferson

When Brandin Cooks got traded, I thought it was Josh Reynolds’ time to shine. That was until they drafted Van Jefferson in the second round. Now we have a battle for that third WR spot behind Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. Reynolds actually impressed me as a player during his spot duties in the past. I’m also all in on Van Jefferson. May the best man win.

Strong Safety: Terrell Burgess vs Taylor Rapp

Terrell Burgess was selected in the third round for a reason. Was it to push Taylor Rapp or play as a slot corner? I liked Burgess coming into the draft process. Rapp also showed promise as a rookie and John Johnson is locked in as a starter. LA also drafted Jordan Fuller too. Why such a big emphasis at this spot?

Ready To Breakout: Leonard Floyd

If Dante Fowler can wreak havoc with the Rams, then so can Leonard Floyd. Neither, in my opinion, are very good. Playing next to Aaron Donald helps A lot. Floyd has 11.5 sacks over the last 3 years which is nothing to write home about. I’m curious to see if Floyd can follow the pattern that Fowler left behind.

Rookie To Watch: Terrell Lewis

Speaking of edge rushers, Terrell Lewis could throw a wrench into the mix. The former Bama product is 6-foot-5 with really long arms. He’s a really good player when on the field. His durability is a big question mark. Which guy are we getting in the pros?

Fantasy Sleeper: Cam Akers

If you don’t jump on the Cam Akers bandwagon, that’s a you problem. That is all.
