ESPN Reassigns Mike Golic To College Football Analyst

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me 700 times? That’s ESPN for you. Trying to figure out a role for Mike Golic has been like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. It just never seems to work. Mike and Mike got split up. Then Golic and Wingo went under for obvious reasons. ESPN is now reassigning Mike Golic once again. This time he will be a College Football analyst.

Adam Schefter made the announcement:

The New York Post also added that Golic was offered to rejoin Mike Greenberg on Get Up. Talk about a slap in the face. That’s so hilarious.

Truthfully, I think the comments do it justice. I won’t have to say much.

Burt isn’t wrong.

I think Golic summed it up best himself. There’s a reason why you get cut:

“We know what’s going on, obviously, with the announcement. Our last show is gonna be July 31,” Golic said on his show after the news became public. “It certainly was not my choice. I would’ve loved to have kept doing the show, but listen, I didn’t want to be cut by the Houston Oilers. I didn’t want to be cut by the Miami Dolphins. Sometimes what you want and what happens isn’t the same.”

Why can’t nobody just be honest about this? There is no talent at ESPN. You can count all of the capable people at ESPN on one hand. Nobody wants to listen to Golic do college football. There are so many good brains out there a hell of a lot more capable. Dan Orlovsky has been a great hire. Find another person like him.

You can mark this down now. Golic will be either reassigned again or fired within 5 years. ESPN is changing programming every other week because they never get it right. All ESPN has done is move more and more hot take artists with very little knowledge for short term gains but it eventually fades quickly and alienates the more educated fan.
