Dante Moore Enters Transfer Portal

UCLA freshman quarterback Dante Moore has entered the transfer portal, Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports first reported Thursday.

Moore was the No. 5 player in the class of 2023, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He will have plenty of college football programs asking for his services. The five-star recruit has serious potential.

As Moore evaluates his next destination, he cited player development as his biggest priority.

“For these next upcoming years, I just want to go to a place where I can get developed,” Moore told 247Sports. “That’s the main thing is really development, making sure you’re bettering yourself every day and having a staff around you that’s going to help develop you. So I’d say the biggest things are going to a place where I can get developed and continue to love and have fun playing football and be around a place that loves college football and be around great athletes.”

Moore’s freshman season did not go as planned. In nine games, he threw for 1610 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. In hindsight, Moore likely needed additional development before starting at the power-five level.

As he entered college, Moore had a wild recruitment that culminated in a late flip from Oregon to UCLA. Michigan, Michigan State, LSU and others were also players in his recruitment.

The transfer portal has been hit with an influx of quarterback talent. The most notable names are Riley Leonard, DJ Uiagalelei, Grayson McCall, and K.J. Jefferson. Not to mention, Max Johnson already committed to North Carolina. Moore may end up being the touted quarterback in the portal.

As for UCLA, its top quarterback is now Ethan Garbers. The junior had some success when he found the field. Still, it would not be a shock to see the Bruins attempt to land a quarterback through the portal.
