There has been chaos in college football with the quarterback carousel slowly starting to turn more and more. The latest development is dual-threat Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer, Max Olson of The Athletic was among the first to report Wednesday.
After four starting seasons at Coastal Carolina, an era has passed for the Chanticleers. McCall finished his time at Coastal Carolina with 88 passing touchdowns, 18 rushing touchdowns and 10,005 passing yards in four seasons as a starter.
McCall kept it short and sweet on his X Wednesday regarding his decision.
“Thank you Coastal Carolina, for everything. I have entered the Transfer Portal as a Grad Transfer with 1 year of eligibility remaining.“

McCall already joins a loaded transfer portal; some names include Arkansas’s K.J. Jefferson, Indiana’s Brendan Sorsby, Mississippi State’s Will Rogers and Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke.
McCall’s consistency has proved he is one of the top transfer quarterbacks in the country. From 2020 to 2022, McCall amassed over 30 touchdowns each year, along with over a 67 percent completion percentage for the Chanticleers.
Not only is McCall consistent, but he is a highly protective quarterback. In four full seasons as Coastal Carolina’s quarterback, McCall has only thrown 14 total interceptions, six of those coming in 2023. He only played in seven games this season, throwing for 1,919 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Chanticleers finished their 2023 season with a 7-5 record. Their worst record since the 2019 season. Now with McCall in the portal, Coastal Carolina will have their eyes set on a new quarterback for the future.
