Stipe Miocic plans to upset Jon Jones at UFC 295

UFC 295 will be a pay-per-view for the history books. The undisputed GOAT of MMA, Jon Jones, will look to defend the heavyweight title against legend Stipe Miocic. Additionally, the fight could serve as Jones’ retirement bout. Despite many picking against him, Miocic plans to pull off the upset and be the first fighter to truly beat Jones.

Miocic discussed his upcoming bout in an interview with Betonline.ag. All quotes via MMAFighting.

“You think I’m going to lose? Good for you,” Miocic said. “You’re going to waste a lot of money now. You’re going to bet against me, you’re going to lose some money. Sorry for that, but onto the next.”

The public seems to have little faith in Miocic. The former heavyweight champion currently sits around +300 on the money line.

The number one rule of MMA gambling is that you do not bet against Jon Jones. That rule has led to positive results. Now, Miocic is warning the public not to bet against him. This may just be a fight you completely stay away from, betting-wise.

Miocic did back up his claim with some tangible evidence. That begins with a massive physique change.

“I used to be around 240-ish, and the [Daniel Cormier] fights, I just kept losing weight,” Miocic said. “I don’t know. I was eating a ton of food, I just kept losing it.

“So we changed some things up in my camp and I’m eating a lot more and doing the right things. I’m definitely over 240, so 245 [pounds].”

In Miocic’s last bout, he weighed 234 pounds. The extra 10 pounds of muscle should come in handy if Jones looks to implore a wrestling-heavy game plan, especially since Jones has added a ton of weight since moving up to heavyweight.

Not to mention, Miocic has legitimate world-class skills that many people are forgetting about.

“[I think] my speed, my angles [and] I think punching power [will give him problems],” Miocic said. “I hit a lot harder than people think. I think I have a great IQ. I always change it up and when something happens, I’ll figure a way out.”

It should not be a surprise that Miocic is an underdog against Jones. At 41, he is coming off a two-and-a-half-year layoff and a knockout loss.

Miocic is certainly confident prior to his UFC 295 class with Jones. This is not the first time he has claimed that he will defeat Jones. Is Miocic all talk or will get the job done? Let us know in the comments.
