Jonathan Taylor requests trade from Indianapolis Colts

The running back market has taken quite the hit, and Jonathan Taylor is feeling the effects. The Indianapolis Colts star running back has requested a trade from the team after contract talks flare up, NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport first reported the news Saturday.

Only a few hours before it became official, it was becoming more and more clear that Jonathan Taylor would request a trade. Taylor and the Colts’ organization have been throwing punches at one another for several days now. Their owner, Jim Irsay, has been making indirect comments toward his star running back in a battle on X (formally known as Twitter).

Jim Irsay is slowly making the RB market worse

“We haven’t exchanged any contract numbers with each other or anything like that,” Irsay said. “So, it’s not like we’re in the midst of that. I think we had a tough season last year. Didn’t win a lot of games. This is a year about coming back together and having a great year and we’re really depending on Jonathan to team up with Anthony Richardson to try and pull together to have a great year.”

“We love Jonathan, we need Jonathan,” Irsay said. “Our hope is Jonathan has an outstanding year and that we have a good year as a team and then we get his next contract done. That’s the hope. We think the world of him as a person, as a player. It’s just timing. When your time comes to get paid, then you get paid.”

Running Backs Need To Stop Crying About How Much Money They Make

Taylor is yet to speak out on not only Irsay’s comments, but his trade request from Saturday remains. Continuing forward, Irsay and the rest of the Colts are not looking to trade their star back in the future. But keep in mind, it’s only July. It would be foolish for them to trade him.
