3 Teams Who Could Trade For Jonathan Taylor

It is such a weird time to be a running back in the NFL. You have some running backs complaining about being “so underpaid” and others saying it flat-out sucks right now, it makes you wonder if we are on the verge of a huge change to their market as we know it. With Saquon Barkley getting his one-year deal, the next biggest running back not on a deal is the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor. If Taylor doesn’t land a new deal, he could potentially request a trade from Indianapolis. If he does, we are going to take a look at the three teams who should be calling up Jim Irsay to try and land the star running back.

1. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins were rumored to be in the market for Barkley before he signed his deal, and if they are willing to trade for a guy and give him a new deal they could with Jonathan Taylor. This team is already primed and ready for a playoff run, and by adding Taylor to this offense they could be unstoppable on that side of the ball. Tua Tagovailoa would have all the weapons you could ask for in Taylor, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Even with the injury to Jalen Ramsey, a Vic Fangio-led defense with the players they have could be a recipe for success.

2. Buffalo Bills

We stay in the AFC East as there is another contender who needs a bonafide RB1. James Cook could turn into a nice player, but if Buffalo has a chance to land someone at the talent level of Jonathan Taylor, they 100 percent should pull the trigger. Buffalo has not had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2017 and only three since 2010. Another powerful offense led by Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs could immensely benefit by landing one of the best running backs in the game, creating another layer for opposing defensive coordinators to worry about.

3. Baltimore Ravens

I understand that both J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards are back fully healthy. Those two guys have done well in this running-back-by-committee offense. But adding the talent in Jonathan Taylor gives Baltimore the flexibility to move off someone like Dobbins to recoup some draft capital after a potential trade for Taylor. It would also take a ton of pressure off Lamar Jackson as he would finally have another premier talent around him, something he has not had during his time in Baltimore.
