It looks like Tyrod Taylor is going to be the Week 1 starter for the Los Angeles Chargers. Even if LA takes a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft, reports have indicated that Taylor is going to begin the season as the starter. There’s no doubt the Chargers will draft someone but Taylor has a huge chip on his shoulder heading into the 2020 season. Tyrod believes the Chargers can make some noise with him under center and is ready to kick ass.

“We have a lot of talent on our team,” Taylor told Gilbert Manzano of the Orange County Register. “If I am the guy that would be calling the shots, I know for sure that we’ll go out and turn a lot of heads.”

“It’s motivating just for the highs and lows of my career,” Taylor said. “To be drafted in the sixth round, walking into my 10th year, there’s definitely a lot of motivating factors in there being from my time when I was in Buffalo and when I played in Cleveland.”

I think there’s a chance that Tyrod Taylor can be a capable starter. Whether Anthony Lynn allows that to happen remains to be seen. The Chargers won’t be successful as long as Lynn remains the head coach. I don’t think it’s a mistake to hand the job to Taylor. He does some things really well. Taylor doesn’t turn the ball over and limits mistakes. He’s also mobile enough to pick up first downs with his legs. Taylor has a career 54 touchdown to 20 interception ratio in his career.

Tyrod Taylor is right about one thing. The Chargers have plenty of talent. He is probably a better fit than Philip Rivers given the offensive line deficiencies. Outside of the offensive line, the Chargers have dudes everywhere.
