I have to be honest, I don’t have high hopes for the XFL. I still can’t decide If I want to watch it or not. The one way to talk me into it is if any of these guys actually have a chance to latch back on with an NFL team after this season. Now we’re really talking. There is actually a good chunk of names. Let’s take a look at which XFL players could actually make their way back to the NFL.
Side note: Don’t ask me about Connor Cook either. That guy sucks. He was so bad he wasn’t even the captain for his college team. He’s not even the starter in the XFL. No, seriously, that’s not a joke. He’s a backup in the XFL.
5: Sammie Coates
Athletic traits were never the problem for Sammie Coates. He just can’t catch. Coates is the one guy you could see wrecking havoc over the top having crazy games and getting another crack. If he catch the ball, I’m guessing he will look pretty good in this type of setting.
4: Kony Ealy
It wasn’t too long ago that Kony Ealy felt like an important part of a Super Bowl team. Ealy was a good pass rusher for Carolina. Then he got traded to New England and the wheels fell apart. Ealy is just 28 so he has a chance to right the ship and get one more chance.
3: Will Sutton
The Bears probably gave up on Will Sutton too soon. He was a third round pick in 2014 out of Arizona State. He’s a BIG nose tackle. Just a matter of him staying athletic. He played 36 games in Chicago and got cut in camp after an ankle injury. Was never to be heard from again. From things I’ve read, it appears that Sutton played well in the AAF. Now he has a chance to really make some noise. He won’t be hard to miss. Just look for the big guy in the middle of the defensive line in the dragons uniform.
2: Antonio Callaway
Talent is not the issue for Antonio Callaway. He would have been a first round pick in 2018 if he wasn’t a knuckle head. That’s not an opinion. Callaway is that good. If there was going to be anything like Tyreek Hill in the NFL, it would be Callaway. He’s just not as fast. Somebody will take a chance on Callaway as long as he doesn’t mess up first.
1: Cardale Jones
Cardale Jones really never got the shot he should have in the NFL. Jones was a fourth round pick that never really saw the field. The Bills kept riding with EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. Sometimes that opportunity never comes. Jones, 27, still should be in his prime. The ability is there. 6-foot-5, 250, and can make every throw. It shocks me that JT Barrett is actually in the NFL and not Cardale. Jones was actually the talented one at Ohio State. He has his shot now.
