The Spurs have had plenty of All-time greats. Now we put them into a starting 5. This team could play with anyone and could compete with other teams All-Time starting 5s as well.
PG: Tony Parker
He has known the Spurs offense the 2nd longest than any Spur ever. He has helped the Spurs win 4 titles as the Point Guard of this team and being the floor general. Parker was also the Finals MVP in 2007. He has been a mentor and a leader for his 17-year tenure with the Spurs. He’s totaled over 19,473 points, 7036 assists, and 3396 rebounds in his career. There’s no question that the Point guard of this all-time team.
SG: Manu Ginobili
He was the Spurs’ wildcard throughout his whole career. He was so slimy and yet therapeutic to watch. His care-free yet prolific style of play was amazing to watch and yet irritating at times. Yet, Manu Ginobili was easily the best Shooting Guard the Spurs ever had. He has helped the Spurs win 3 titles with his style of play during his 15-year career with the Spurs. He has a total of 14,043 points, 4001 assists, and 3697 rebounds. Any other questions that he should be the all-time Spurs shooting guard?
SF: Kawhi Leonard
All you salty ass fans need to realize that Kawhi was the best thing for the Spurs given that Tim Duncan was retiring. I had half of mind to give this to the “Iceman” George Gervin, but despite his success, he never gave the Spurs a title. Kawhi Leonard did and was the NBA finals MVP in 2014. It’s hard to deny him that. As close as the argument is I would put George Gervin as the 6th man of this team. Kawhi Leonard totaled 6654 points, 924 assists, and 2514 rebounds in his 7-year tenure with the Spurs. He is now one of the best NBA players in the NBA now.
PF: Tim Duncan
He’s the BEST player in Spurs history. There’s absolutely no question. He is arguably the best Power Forward in NBA History, how could anyone deny him this spot. Duncan has 5 titles while having 3 Finals MVPs and 2 regular season MVPs. He has totaled 26,496 points, 4225 assists, and 15,091 rebounds in his 19-year career with the Spurs.
C: David Robinson
Ever since the Spurs drafted Tim Duncan, these two were known as the Twin Towers and wreaked havoc on the NBA for the rest of his tenure. He won a regular-season MVP in 1995 before Duncan even was drafted. But when Duncan was drafted, they won two rings in 1999 and 2003, David Robinson’s last year. He was a big reason why the Spurs won those two finals even though Duncan got the Finals MVPs for both of those championships.
