Lonnie Walker is The Epitome On Why To Be Excited About Spurs’ Future

Lonnie Walker IV is the only a piece of the Spurs’ future. The Spurs have a bright future and their fans should only be excited about it. Lonnie Walker IV exploded for 28 points in his first real action with the Spurs. I say real action because he would play about 10 minutes or just not at all some nights. It was infuriating given how well he played in the Las Vegas Summer League and how bad the Spurs are playing so far. But in his first real action, 28 points on 56% shooting in 35 minutes. He basically single-handled brought back the Spurs to beat the Rockets in double overtime. Walker scored 19 points of his 28 points in the 4th quarter. He is one of the reasons to be excited about the Spurs’ future.

Lonnie Walker is only one reason

I got about 5 other reasons to be excited about the Spurs’ future, 4 of them are on the roster right now. Dejounte Murray is a defensive stud and is still playing well this year. He is on a minutes restriction after tearing his ACL last year. Derrick White exploded in the playoffs last year against the Nuggets. Jakob Poeltl is quietly having his best year yet and is still so young. Bryn Forbes is a SHOOTER. He has a rough start to this season but he is still very young and has a chance to get back into it. Forbes shot 42.6% from 3 last year, so I am not worried about this year per se. What is the other reason though? The rookies from the draft class. I follow a couple of guys on twitter that keeps me updated on the G-League for the Spurs. Keldon Johnson, Luka Samanic, and Quinndary Weatherspoon are all playing well for the Austin Spurs, G-League Affiliate.

Very few people saw the explosion of Lonnie Walker IV coming, one of them was Vendetta’s own Scott Baker. He called Lonnie Walker the steal of the draft, and with performances like that, he just might be right. Spurs fans, don’t be sad, we are not playing well this year, and might not break the record for most consecutive playoff appearances in a row at 23. But that’s okay. Our future is bright and we will be a dynasty once again. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are on their way out of San Antonio. We might have a small rebuild but with this young core, I could not be less worried about San Antonio.
