Alright people so I know that I am in fact late to the party, and what I’m about to say will not come as a shock to many of you, but it needs to be said. Lamar Jackson is, in fact, good at football and is one of the brightest stars in NFL. I’ll be honest with you folks, it took me longer than most to hop on this bandwagon, but I’m on and the only way I’m hoping off is if for some reason the Ravens play the Eagles in the Super Bowl. If that happens then Lamar is once again dog shit.
Let’s look at the stats here people. As you all know I am a big stat guy and with that being said, through his first 16 career games, Lamar Jackson looks like he is on his way to being an all-timer. Many people believe that Jackson should have entered the league as a running back. So where does he stack up with LaDainian Tomlinson, one of the best running backs of the 2000s? Pretty freaking well is the answer you’re looking for. Through his first 16 career starts LT ran for an impressive 1,236 rushing yards. Jackson, the QUARTERBACK, has ran for an even more impressive 1,258. HE’S A QUARTERBACK PEOPLE! That’s incredible and I don’t care who you are, you have to respect that aspect of his game.
Now many people still think that Lamar is not a quarterback. But let’s take a look and see where he ranks up against some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today. Last year Patty Mahoney took the NFL by storm by becoming the youngest player to throw for 50 touchdowns and took home the MVP award. Through their first 16 starts though Lamar edges Patty out slightly in the win column 13-12. Not sold on him still? What if I told you through 16 games Jackson beat Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and the GOAT Tom Brady in separate passing categories? Would you be shocked? Because I sure was when I heard about this. Again through their first 16 games, Lamar’s 94.4 passer rating beat Brady’s 90.1. His 7.6 yards per attempt is greater than Aaron Rodgers’ 7.5. And most shockingly his 63% completion percentage beat Mr. Accuracy himself, Drew Brees. The dude is officially a good quarterback. The last thing I love about this kid is that he is humble. Lamar was asked this weekend where his absolute electric spin move against the Bangles ranked on the top plays of his life and he responded by saying, “We scored. That’s all that matters.” You can’t beat that man. Good for you Lamar, keep proving the doubters like myself wrong. You are officially good at football
