Adam Gase Should Be Embarrassed

The New York Jets and first-year head coach Adam Gase are a disaster this year. This is far from preseason expectations. Everything seemed on the right track when Sam Darnold came back from mono, but apparently his mono is causing him to see ghosts on the field. After a 26-18 loss to the (former) winless Miami Dolphins, Gase stated that you cannot get embarrassed in the NFL. I beg to differ.

Current Record: 1-7

The record speaks for itself. Their only win was by two points against the Dallas Cowboys, they only put up 14 points in two games against the New England Patriots, and failed to score more than 20 points against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins. According to the NFL’s official website, the Jets are last in the league in points (12), total yards (223.5), passing yards (157.2), and 30th in rushing yards (66.2). I cannot say exactly what is going on, but something is not working right now.

Darnold cannot stop throwing interceptions. He has 6 touchdowns to 9 interceptions (nice), including this one, which is the equivalent of the butt fumble but thrown.

That has to be one of the worst throws I have ever seen. It doesn’t help that Darnold is getting no help from running back Le’Veon Bell and the offensive line is horrible. Darnold holds on to the ball for too long and is making bad decisions when he decides to throw. Isn’t Gase supposed to be a quarterback guru?

What to do about Adam Gase?

Truth be told? I’m not 100% sure. I’m a Dolphins fan. I heard every year that his offense was gonna take off, and every year came more disappointment. I know the team was plagued with injuries and Ryan Tannehill could not stay healthy, but I saw no improvement. Maybe give Gase one more year, or maybe not. I only know what I saw in Miami, and what I saw was mediocrity. I really like Darnold as a quarterback. If Adam Gase is given one more year and cannot step up, it may be his last head coaching gig for a while. Until then, if you are a Jets fan, I suggest watching Trey’s Madden 20 Jets franchise. At least in there, the Jets’ are winning.
