2025 NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 7

We’re in the thick of October, which means a lot is going on. Yes, I also tuned into some playoff baseball and NHL action again so the slate won’t be overly long. Still, it’s a strong slate with a ton of entertaining games that we learned plenty from. I promise you will still get your money’s worth with the Week 7 notes for the 2025 NFL Draft Stock Report.

The slate for Week 7 includes – Utah vs. Arizona State, South Carolina vs. Alabama, Texas vs. Oklahoma, Penn State vs. USC, Florida vs. Tennessee, Ohio State vs. Oregon, Ole Miss vs. LSU, and Kansas State vs. Colorado.

Utah

Cam Rising is totally cooked. He may as well change his name to Sam Hartman. It feels like both have taken the same path. Old and the game has passed them by while looking permanently injured. It’s bad enough that Rising can’t move out there. It’s worse that he can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Combine that with some of the egregious decision making, and it’s time to cross him off the list for good.

Rising finished the game 16/37 for 209 yards and three picks. Yes, you didn’t really need to even watch the game. He looked as bad as the box score indicates. Look at some of these plays. They’re like lollipops up for grabs. This dude is absolutely broken and I don’t see any way it turns around.

Micah Bernard had another big game. That’s been the case all year. Just not sure what I can say because I’m not sure how much we should really take away from it. He’s been there forever. His first season was back in 2019. If he can’t pick up stats against Arizona State with that Utah line in front of him, we got problems.

I don’t see Zack Moss but he’s not untalented. 21 carries for 129 yards and a score in this one. Has decent contact balance and vision but how fast is he and will the physicality hold up against NFL bodies? Those are the questions. Underrated wiggle but how talented is he really? Good to see him being a factor in the passing game too though.

Brant Kuithe had 44 receiving yards on three receptions but he was also mixed in the running game. Just good to see him back to his old self. If he wasn’t healthy, he wouldn’t be getting rushing attempts. He might be a better H-back than a tight end. Wouldn’t say he did anything in this one that blew me away but he’s very much a draftable player. He’s a much better version than the cheese everyone tried to sell you with Ben Sinnott.

Speaking of draftable players, Dorian Singer fits that mold. Had success at Arizona, didn’t look out of place at USC, now he’s putting up numbers with broken Rising. Four receptions for 75 yards. That’s an NFL player. That’s all I know. Based on the way Rising played, it’s a miracle he got 75 yards. Not overly big but he can move around with some of the lower body quickness to him. Gets open with reliable hands. Will be drafted. A matter of how high. Never going to be a number one but can be a functional part of a passing attack.

Lander Barton pops off the screen, doesn’t he? Sometimes it’s bad. Sometimes it’s good. I’d say he’s more raw than bad. Certain times he’s just out of position and not overly big enough to take on lineman at the point of attack. Led the team with nine tackles and had a TFL. His brother Cody Barton made it to the league and Lander looks like he is the better athlete. 6-foot-4, 236, and just needs to get stronger. Mostly the problem is I have no idea what position he is. Is he really a stand up linebacker? Had a lot of up and downs dropping in space. Looks like a lump of clay that can turn into something but far from a finished product.

Arizona State

Cam Skattebo won this game for the Sun Devils. The last time I watched him, I was not impressed. Mostly just need to get the expectations in line. The thing I like is that he basically plays every snap and truly carries this backfield. He can catch too and is a real factor in the passing game (had four receptions for 41 yards through the air). His two big runs were the difference in the game.

You have to give Skattebo this. He tries. When I say that, I mean in the sense of his cuts are underrated. He’s got more than just some random white dude out there. Clearly has mental and physical toughness to do what he does. Runs hard and keeps the feet churning with plus balance. I just think we have to be realistic. Why can’t he be the next Kyle Juszczyk? We see the way Dallas has used Hunter Luepke. Skattebo has a chance if a team uses him as a hybrid fullback with rushing upside. If that happens, he has a chance.

I almost forgot Jeff Sims was here. Just pointing it out because that dude is the definition of an SNL skit. It’s a joke watching him play. He’s basically been reduced to a QB sneak substitute. Maybe he can take over as the starter two years from now. I guess it’s good to see that he’s still alive. That’s all I got.

South Carolina

These edge guys for the Cocks are a problem. That freshman is a freak but Kyle Kennard keeps wrecking the game too. Not easy to have this kind of impact against the Bama offensive line too. He forced the safety before the half. He was absolutely fantastic in this one. Two sacks and three TFLs in this one. Dude was a problem the whole game.

Don’t ask me why Robby Ashford ever sees the field. Nothing positive happens when he does. LaNorris Sellers gives them a way better chance to win. Just ruins the rhythm. If I were Sellers, me and Ashford would be getting in fights. Keep that bum off the field or I’m out. What is the point of him other than having gimmick run plays that don’t work?

I’m still not totally sold on Rocket Sanders, but I’ll give him this. He’s pretty good in short yardage. Good pad level and strong. 16 carries for 78 yards and a score. Added four receptions in the passing game too. Based on what I’ve seen this year, I would imagine he will get picked but it will be much lower than you think. Can’t see any way he sneaks into the top three rounds. Still has some time but I just don’t see special.

These South Carolina corners deserve some love too. This is a school that usually puts out a lot of them at the NFL level. O’Donnell Fortune and Jalon Kilgore had picks in this one. Ryan Williams had 32 receiving yards, which is his worst game yet. Every time I’ve watched those guys, they’ve competed their ass off. Might be something worth diving into further.

Alabama

You knew Alabama would come out hot after that catastrophic loss to Vanderbilt last week. Except that didn’t really happen. Regardless of that factor, it’s obvious Jalen Milroe keeps improving. You can tell his decision making is improving. A lot of that is coaching, obviously. But he’s more functional than he used to be. The intermediate passing game is coming along. When I say that, I mean on schedule. Off schedule still a different story. When he’s forced to adapt and it’s not a run, he’s still a mess. Making those poised throws in the middle of the field. Last year he was a zero. Now he’s something, which makes a huge difference for him.

He’s so damn fast that I’m not worried about the NFL transition in that aspect. If he doesn’t pick up yards with his legs, it’s because he’s hurt. Zone read is just going to have to be part of your offense if you pick him.

Problem is how do you trust him to lead your NFL franchise? Had a two minute drill before the half and takes a safety. Do you feel good about him throwing it all over the lot when you need it? I don’t. He’s definitely a bit jumpy back there more than you would want as a pure passer. Then got another chance before the half and makes a terrible play on a third and 20. Just absolutely stupid giving South Carolina before the half. Maybe you can argue that Kalen DeBoer should have managed the game better there but wow. What’s clear is under pressure making a play, he does dumb things.

How about the pick in the end zone in the 4th? That thing hung up there like a can of corn in baseball. When you’re down, this just can’t happen in the red area. It’s like people see the Michael Vick without him proving he’s that good. Potential is there. Speed is there. Arm talent is there. He’s slowly maturing and developing. Just not sure how you turn the card in and feel like you solved the problem of needing a quarterback. He’s going to need a babysitter and you better be confident your development team and coaching staff.

How do we feel about Jam Miller? I think he’s okay? He’s clearly not better than Justice Haynes (not draft-eligible yet). 12 carries for 42 yards of meh. To me, I’m not sure he’s even as good as Brian Robinson. Looks a touch worse than that. We’ve seen he can catch but how juiced up is he? Clearly a tier below the typical three down Bama backs.

Germie Bernard keeps growing on me. Not just a smooth route runner. Looks like he can do some things after the catch too. Wasn’t much of a factor at Washington but neither did Puka Nacua. Washington had three guys drafted early last year so can’t hold that against him. Four receptions for 89 yards and a score in this one. 6-foot-1 and always looks smooth in and out of breaks.

This defense was lifeless last week. Just looked checked out after riding the high of beating Georgia. They were back for the most part in this one. I’ve been hyping up these two linebackers Campbell and Lawson (they deserve so much praise) but the other linebacker, Justin Jefferson, might be pretty good too. Qua Russaw just buzzes around out there too. All I’m trying to say is Kalen DeBoer didn’t take over a team with an empty cupboard.

Texas

Quinn Ewers is back this week and immediately throws a pick. Not an ideal start when you’re returning from injury. Did what’s gotten him in the past. He’s really good when he quiets the lower half. When the feet aren’t set, he does this.

No question he looked jittery and shaky at the start of the game. The playcalling for this team drives me insane sometimes. Too much junk that goes east-west with dinky throws at the line. Clearly wasn’t his best game but don’t see it as worth panicking over. First game back from injury and the Oklahoma defense is better than it usually is historically. It was still a blowout win for Texas and ultimately did his part in the easy win.

Finished the game 20/29 for 199 yards and one touchdown / interception. If you’re looking for reasons to be skeptical, it’s that he really has no reason to be jittery behind this dominant offensive line. Kelvin Banks should be the first tackle off the board. That line Texas has right now is the best one I’ve seen them have in my lifetime.

Looks like Jaydon Blue got passed by Quintrevion Wisner on the depth chart. Wisner in an underclassman. Not that Blue looks bad. He just clearly looks like a pass down specialist. Wisner looks faster and more complete.

This defense has some gems on it. The best player they have on that side of the ball is a linebacker who isn’t draft eligible yet. I mostly just want to talk about Ethan Burke in this one. Had a sack and TFL in this one. I’m mostly impressed by the elements he has. 6-foot-6, long, and powerful. He looks like a juiced up Brent Urban, doesn’t he? Looks like the perfect three tech to plug into any defense. These guys don’t grow on trees.

This tight end had some moments too. Looks a little goofy and haven’t really said much here but if he’s going to do things like this, maybe it’s time to monitor Gunnar Helm. He’s tall. Have to give him that.

Oklahoma

Venables remains a jackass for thinking this freshy Hawkins the way he throws the ball. This whole thing is a total joke. That guy should be ashamed of himself. To throw Jackson Arnold under the bus as the fall guy, then to put up that offensive performance? At some point, look yourself in the mirror, buddy. That offense looks broken since Jeff Lebby left for the Mississippi State job.

Oklahoma is dealing with some injuries at wide receiver, but there’s no excuse for that nonsense we all saw how broken they are.

I can’t tell if Danny Stutsman is actually somewhat talented or just an overachiever. He’s usually always around the ball and makes a positive impact every week. This is one that I can’t wait to see what he runs.

Penn State

Number 44 that’s me! This Tyler Warren he’s the whole damn offense. Penn State has produced NFL tight ends in the past but whatever this guy is… he’s a new version. Maybe it’s just the offense because the new OC this year is way smarter and way more creative.

It might be beyond just the OC being smarter. Warren notched 17 receptions for 224 yards and a score. He’s taking QB sneaks. Out here trucking guys in space. Hands look good. This was beyond just a tight end having a good game. He’s enormous too at 6-foot-6, 257.

Had seven touchdowns while sharing time with Theo Johnson. Now he’s the number one in the entire offense. I don’t know how you ignore it when he’s setting records. We’re talking about a guy who was at the Elite 11 as a quarterback. He might not be done getting better.

Nick Singleton feels like the Braelon Allen of this year. Nobody is talking about him, for whatever reason, but he’s just physically different from normal backs. It was Kaytron Allen who actually had the better game but as I’ve said, both are NFL caliber.

Penn State is not talented in the secondary. That’s pretty obvious now. They don’t have anyone close to Joey Porter Jr. I’m not sure they even have a Kalen King. These USC receivers clearly won their matchups and Miller Moss benefited from it.

Drew Allar is the new Godfather 3 meme. That’s not changing after this week. There is good mixed in there but it never feels like he carries my team and that’s what I need. You have to give him credit for the two fourth down conversations in the 4th to tie it at 30. Those were big throws with improvising needed.

Finished the game 30/43 for 391 passing yards, two touchdowns, and three picks. Right now he’s still so much of a damn rollercoaster, he’s hard to trust. The positive flashes, the talent is easy to spot. Big and now slow straight line either. You have to give him credit from making the comeback and converting gotta have it throws. They don’t win without some of the heroics. His foot in the mouth moments also got them behind. It’s not like this USC defense is improved but still not great either so it would have been more concerning if he didn’t put up points.

I got no problem turning the card in for number 11. Abdul Carter can be on my team anytime he wants. Some of the things he does…

USC

After losing to Minnesota, USC was totally in wounded animal mode and they came out firing. Being back at home helps. Having your back against the wall also probably helped.

The USC offensive line was outmanned and outgunned in this one. With that said, I’m not sure Woody Marks sucks. Not sure he’s good but he’s clearly not bad either. The center is the only passable one they have on the line. The rest clearly are not NFL good. 20 carries for 111 yards all things considered is a good showing by Marks.

I’m just not sure what we learned from the USC side. Miller Moss doesn’t suck but he’s obviously limited. The wide receiver room is deep. Eric Gentry didn’t play. Zion Branch might be another Branch who can play. What else do you want here?

Florida

Graham Mertz got hurt in this one and he’s going to miss the rest of the season. Actually played alright when he was out there (11/15 for 125 yards and a score). It’s a tough Tennessee defense too. He’s now done for the year and it will be the Lagway show the rest of the year.

Glad to see Montrell Johnson get back in the mix. He was starting to lose momentum to the younger options in the backfield. Still Dameon Pierce vibes but 12 carries for 85 yards against that front is very respectable. Will be in a late round mix with a chance to make a team. Nothing new here.

Good to see Eugene Wilson back on the field. Not the craziest game in this one, but he definitely makes an impact just being out there. He’s their best weapon, no question about that.

Tennessee

We’re not talking about floor is lava any more the rest of the season. He’s not draft eligible yet and we clearly know what we got here. Talented but further development is needed. I say all that to say that Dylan Sampson is so important. He’s carrying this offense. 27 carries for 112 yards and three scores in this one.

Sampson is the SEC’s leader in rushing yards right now. I wouldn’t say I’m in love but I’m very much in like. Has plus speed. Good size with a burst. Can break tackles and quality vision. I’ll say this again. He’s better than Jaylen Wright. No doubt.

Speaking of legit, there are no questions about James Pearce anymore. He’s done the opposite of Patrick Payton. He’s proved that he’s a big time player. Was a monster in this one and can line up all over the field.

Screw whatever the stats were. He just looks the part. Plus, it was Pearce who really saved the game.

He’s not just one of these swimmers. He can go from speed to power. Good in space. Looks good dropping in coverage. He’s been the real deal every time I’ve seen him.

In more somber news, Keenan Pili will miss the rest of the season via injury. Sucks because he’s been a big factor to their team.

Ohio State

TreVeyon Henderson > Quinshon Judkins. For the record, I love both players. It’s just hard to overlook those OMG he’s out in the open field runs by Henderson. He’s a home run hitter but with the body of those old Ohio State guys.

The pure rushing totals weren’t close. Judkins had 11 carries for 23 yards and a score. Henderson had 10 carries for 87. It’s not really about the numbers. It’s more of a pure upside thing. Henderson has a more untapped ceiling to where Judkins will be a very good player but how good?

Not the best night for Denzel Burke. As we’ll get to in a bit, he took his lumps from Evan Stewart and others. Was on the wrong end of a bunch of big plays. Is a player I loved in the past and probably still do. Just have to mention what happened because it happened. Was targeted a bunch and never made a great play on the ball either.

If you want to say Will Howard is a fine college quarterback, I disagree but won’t argue with you. Let’s just make it clear that there is no NFL future here. The lack of self awareness to slide in the middle of the field with no time on the clock was as dumb as it gets. Not going to even bother showing the stats here. What’s the point? What if he didn’t have Chip Kelly on his side, who clearly helps with the tempo of the offense? Right now he’s nothing more than a mediocre distributor that really can’t be trusted in a traditional dropback pass game. He’s tall and isn’t slow. Congratulations on having that. I don’t care about the result of the win or loss. He sucks in terms of having a chance NFL wise regardless.

Remember when I said last week that he looks like Will Levis who is less athletic but maybe a slightly better accurate passer? This is something Levis would do. I’m way out.

This might feel lazy but I can’t help what I see. Emeka Egbuka looks like a spitting image of Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Clearly talented. Clearly can get open. Probably just a slot receiver. How high do you pick that guy? Good luck.

No sacks for JT Tuimoloau or Jack Sawyer. JTT was more noticeable in the game but disappointing to see Sawyer totally held quiet.

Oregon

Have to talk about this strip sack by Derrick Harmon. Beats Donovan Jackson right off the line and snatches Quinshon Judkins’ soul. Super impressive play. Transfer for Michigan State on the older side to bring depth along the defensive line. With Jordan Burch, who we talked about last week, not playing, they needed someone to step up. He’s done his job since coming over from Sparty land.

There is one thing very clear after this game. There is a sizeable gap between Will Howard and Dillon Gabriel. Howard is a joke. He’s a total disgrace to the position. I don’t care what the stats are. Other than being old and mature with slight mobility, he brings nothing to the table. Gabriel can actually make big throws down the field. I never feel like Howard moves the ball unless it’s dark Chip Kelly magic or the surrounding athletes make a play. Well, against Oregon, his make a play guys aren’t bailing him out as much.

Gabriel had a key long touchdown run that made a difference. He also averaged 10 yards per pass against a loaded secondary. I’m saying this regardless of the result. Gabriel should be drafted, just not a first rounder. Howard should not be drafted. That’s very obvious. If you swapped them, Ohio State wins by 14. That’s what I think.

Ohio State secondary is damn good. They’re loaded back there. What it really shows is how stupid talented Evan Stewart is. It’s the finite details in the movement skills. Just a tier above athletically. Fast with a gear. Totally showed out in this one. The biggest question with Stewart has been the fact that he’s one of those knuckleheads that Texas A&M had.

Seven receptions for 149 yards and a score. Looked awesome the entire game. Shades of DeSean Jackson with upside to be better than that.

Scumbag move by Traeshon Holden who made a big catch and then got ejected for spitting on an Ohio State player. Disgusting on all levels. Repulsive. Alabama transfer. They should just send him back because they don’t need him.

Josh Conerly can play for my team. These Ohio State pass rushers never wrecked the game. That dude is impressive moving out in space. You can just see it with the way he can bend on these pulls.

Jordan James continues to be a stud. What more is that to say? This is against Ohio State, James rushed for 23 carries for 115 yards and a score. Slowly becoming one of my favorites in the class. By the way, we’re already seeing how much of a stud Bucky Irving is at the pro level (which I tried to warn you about). Well, Irving kept this guy off the field but he also saw 111 carries last year while Bucky was there last year.

I just don’t see James as one of these weird Oregon backs either. AKA the De’Anthony Thomas who turns into nothing. James is a former four-star guy from the state of Tennessee. He could easily be a dude right now in the SEC. Be careful about just assuming the helmet means something here. Not small either at 5-foot-10, 210. Good blend of speed, power, and contact balance. I really like this player. The more I see, the more it confirms it.

Jabbar Muhammad will be on an NFL roster for someone. Not a big corner but that guy battles his tail off.

Ole Miss

Tough spot for Ole Miss. LSU coming off a bye at home. Ole Miss plays a second straight week on the road and hasn’t had a bye yet.

Tre Harris came into the game questionable and he’s by far the best weapons they have. First drive of the game, has this LSU secondary burnt and drops a ball that was slightly underthrown. Still probably should have been a house call. Maybe he would have scored if he was 100% but he didn’t look super limited in the game. He later left the game and wasn’t available down the stretch. The offense went to hell once that happened.

Good to see Ulysses Bentley get going. Remember, we marked how Henry Parrish got banged up against Kentucky. That just might be the case. Parrish rushed for 42 yards on 14 carries. Bentley had a big 50 yard run and finished 107 yards and a score on 11 carries. Runs with more power than you think he does. More straight line than wiggle but not untalented. Nice to see because he’s been there a while and hasn’t gotten a ton of opportunities. Before Parrish, it was Quinshon Judkins stealing most of the work.

LSU

Can words describe the balls on Garrett Nussmeier? Live and die by the gunslinger but he’s the only reason why LSU came back in this one.

Yes, it was ugly. But it was also ugly and sexy at the same time. If you get a Sean Payton like buy-in level like he’s doing right now with Bo Nix, Nussmeier can be the next Brett Favre.

So when Joe Burrow was coming out, I used the Tony Romo comp a bunch. Burrow has proved he’s a better but more injury prone version of that. The basketball background with Burrow ended up playing out more than I maybe should have known it would. This actually looks like the player I was trying to comp Burrow to.

There’s something about the way he’s able to shift his body while keeping the eye level down the field. Again, I don’t care about the stats. Take the win and loss out of it. Jaxson Dart doesn’t do things like this. He’s more sloppy and looking to take off, or it comes with a hero ball throw down the field. Nussmeier has more of a point guard feel that gets risky more than he should. I’m telling you right now. He’s going in the second or third round and will become a quality starter. That’s on the table if taken care of properly.

Really nice game for Kyren Lacy. Has the look and feel of those past LSU guys. Not sure he catches as well but moves mostly the same. Took over the game when it mattered. Feel pretty good what I’m getting here and should be better than Terrace Marshall. Just pump the brakes on the top of the top past LSU guys for now.

To me, the bigger story is the emergence of Aaron Anderson. He’s knocking at the door to be something more. Scored a key touchdown that sent the game to overtime. 5-foot-8, 187 but starting to make those explosive plays. Former four star guy who originally attended Alabama. Can stay in school another two years but I guess he can declare. Regardless, he’s starting to declare himself as something. More to learn here.

Mason Taylor keeps doing his thing as a reliable target too. Five receptions for 43 yards in this one.

Sai’von Jones, who I’ve been hyping up was mostly held quiet. The Tackles did exactly that to the Ole Miss front. Guys like Walter Nolen never wrecked the game. Nice to see that tackle tandem bounce back because the South Carolina tag team wrecking crew won that battle.

Kansas State

It feels like I’ve said this 100 times now but I’m in on both K State running backs. I think DJ Giddens has calmed my concerns down. 25 carries for 182 rushing yards in this one. This run right here brings a smile to the face of the Colorado haters. The problem for them is they can only hate on Shilo, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

Not much to discuss beyond that in this section. The only thing that really matters here is Avery Johnson but that’s a conversation for the 2026 or 2027 NFL Draft. The guy is a baller. It’s a matter of the lightbulb will go off. Right now I’m leaning to that being a yes but we’re in wait-and-see mode.

Colorado

Anybody who has bad things to say about Shedeur Sanders can’t be trusted. His top receivers dropped like flies in this one. The people criticizing Shedeur have ulterior movites that can’t be trusted. What more do you want from this guy? Every game he’s beyond efficient. While having no support in the run game while running for his life. Even has to deal with Will Sheppard dropping easy touchdowns.

If anything, the NFL bloodlines should make you feel better about him. The he can’t play crowd should shut up because that’s just not true. I’m blown away but what he’s able to do while the help crumbles around him. Again, throw the win – loss out the window. For him to keep Colorado in this game and almost win it says a lot. The preseason win total wouldn’t have given them a chance in this game. If you hate Shedeur, it’s because you have irrational hate behind your words. He’s impressive and we’ll leave it at that.

Travis Hunter left this game early. Maybe Colorado wins it if he’s healthy and plays the whole game. Such a shame because I would have voted for him for the Heisman. We’ll see how bad the injury is. People will bring up how the heavy snap counts got him hurt. I’m not going there. Keep your nonsense out of that discussion. No reason to limit the player. I’ve seen more than I need to. He can play both and if you draft him, I expect both.

Dallan Hayden might stink. This is how many weeks now. They’re running the ball better without him. Former Ohio State guy that has just done nothing. I know this line is far from ideal but at some point, it’s RIP.

Quick Hitters:

I watched bits and pieces of Georgia beat Mississippi State. It was uglier than it should have been. Branson Robinson got hurt again, which is just so heartbreaking. Talented back but can’t stay on the field. We’re going to get more of Trevor Etienne and the fresh Frazier moving forward.

Life without Colbie Young begins. Dillon Bell is established his role. Dom Lovett keeps doing slot things. I just wonder how real the Arian Smith thing is… 134 yards and a score in this one. Guy can run. No doubt about that. He’s starting to prove he can be a real receiver.

Carson Beck might filled with more red flags than I thought. Two more picks in this one. Just wish he would stop doing the 4 plays a game where I swear he’s Mac Jones thing. Still very much a believer but the nonsense needs to go. Still big game but how reliant is he to the system and talent around him? That’s hard to know.
