Things get a little spicy in this one. Is Bucky Irving the best running back in the 2024 NFL Draft? Check out the Oregon product’s draft profile! (Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports)

Bucky Irving 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Bucky Irving is next on the docket for the 2024 NFL Draft profile series. This running back draft is weak but the Oregon product should be one of the better ones in the class. Let’s review everything that you need to know.

Irving, listed as a four star prospect coming out of high school, got his college start at Minnesota. He only spent one season with Minnesota before spending his last two years with Oregon. Irving rushed for nearly 700 yards as a freshman with Minnesota but went well over 1,000 each year with the Ducks.

I worry that he’s just another Marlon Mack. Elusive but not enough speed and explosion. It’s just hard to not like what you see when watching the games. Featured in the stock report series several times, Irving hit plenty of home run balls despite only running a 4.55. Has a really good knack for making people miss. Runs really low to the ground and has nice contact balance. Love the feet more than anything at the Combine. Showed he’s much better in the quicker than fast department.

Very underrated pass catcher. Added 56 receptions for 413 yards and two scores through the air. Like that he’s good in open space. Just has a good array of moves to him. Spin, juke, hurdle, etc. He’s got tools in the tool box.

I love me some Bucky Irving. He’s just a slippery MFer. I think he’s Devin Singletary except a good tick better. Just really quick short area and breaks tackles without looking like he’s straining to do it. Joystick Madden element to his game that just fits the NFL and will figure it out. I would take him in the 4th round and trust him to be a heavy lifter in a two-back rotation. If he turns into the best running back in the draft class I wouldn’t be surprised.
