2024 Vendetta Awards

I’m very aware That’s Some Cheese hasn’t been very active this past year but I plan on changing that once I’m all settled in with the move. 2024 was quite the year in the land of Vendetta Sports Media. We dropped our new product Vendetta Fantasy Contests (and don’t worry, we’re adding the necessary upgrades as we speak to put us over the top in 2025). To put a bow on 2024, let’s hand out the Vendetta Awards to the fellow soldatos in the VSM universe.

Rookie of the Year: Back End Development Team

No real candidates on the content side so I’m giving this to the dev team building out the VFC platform. We’re still working diligently on that but once we’re all finished with that stuff, you will soon realize we’re not playing games here. This brand will take over the sports media industry. Expect those upgrades within the next month or so with an app version of everything that will follow soon after. We’re really proud of what’s being built with the fantasy contest platform and you the viewer will soon realize what’s happening over here.

Most Improved: Jiarmani DePena

I very much realize that I gave this award to Jiarmani last year but I think he deserves it again. I think he took his game to another level again this year. He’s created a bit of a following on the YouTube side of things and is starting to become a leader in the room. I’m proud of the growth he’s shown over the past year. He takes this stuff seriously and cares, which is half the battle. I still think he could write more and turn his videos into posts to get even more traction but that’s a story for another day. Credit to him for being one of the few who actually creates clips for his long form work, which should be viewed as necessary and not optional in today’s content world. I expect even bigger things from Jiarmani in 2025.

Best Trash Talker: Chickster

I don’t think the group did enough to steal Chickster’s throne. If anything, I think they took a step backward. King Chickster reigns supreme again. All hail King Chickster. I really hope one day I can genuinely give this award to someone else who is worthy of receiving it but that day is not today.

Best Brain: Marzzman Gaming

Nobody makes better video game reviews than the Marzzman gaming team. That’s just a fact. Once the VFC platform is integrated with his stuff, he’s going to skyrocket. Mark my words. He’s a huge part of what we’re building here and I don’t think people totally know what’s coming on that side of things. They will be the end of 2025.

Most Delusional Fan: The WWE Team

No group has disappointed me more than this side. Some have gone. Others still remain. Nothing gets done. They’re a big reason why we got the deal with NewsBreak and instead of carrying the momentum, they ran out of competitive stamina instead. I’d love if this crew got it back together but I’m not going to hold my breath. I trust that Max will once we have more resources but that day is not today until the VFC platform has more of a following.

Best Duo: Garrett and Chickster

I think they deserve it. They’ve been here pretty much since the start and continue to feed off each other to this day. Probably the most consistent too. Hard Locks and Draft Busters hopefully takes strides forward in 2025. We’ve cleaned out a lot of the knuckleheads within the group but these two are actual assets within that and I thank them for their services over the years.

Best Video Series: East Carolina

I might be biased but I think this takes the cake. The drop of the college football game has brought so much to the entire content world. Taking East Carolina from a two-win team to beating Texas in the National Title on Heisman has to be one of the best accomplishments done since the game has came back. We’re on the brink of an undefeated season too and it didn’t take us very long to turn the program around. I’m not sure how the rest of the team feels but I think the series has been incredibly fun and entertaining. You can find the hub for the series here!

Best Podcast: 8-Sided Freaks

Think the UFC team deserves a bit of a shout-out. James Herrick carries the group and he’s a big part of what we’re building. Once the VFC platform is integrated with their stuff, it should only take off. Expecting even bigger things from this team. They also didn’t have much competition and are the only consistent upload along with Fyda and the soccer group.

Best Article Series: NFL Draft Stock Report

Think we took things to an even bigger level this year. Very proud of the draft notes we put out this year. Not to mention the fact that we were the most accurate publication out there from last year. Our draft content has caught a ton of eyeballs and I get more calls than you think I do on them. I already know the Texans drafted Derek Stingley because of me. The Bucky Irving call may have been the single best call of the entire draft cycle?

Our NFL Draft coverage will climb to another level in 2025. I’m hoping to see more competition for this award in 2025 too.

MVP: Matt Hanifan

The MVP goes to Hanny. I can only imagine how successful he will be once I can steal him full time. He’s probably the most irreplaceable piece we have. Covers a lot of the news and takes the NBA team by the horns. His writing continues to improve and everything he does is a great read. Edits others’ work too. I’m pretty sure the others know he’s in line before them for a raise and it’s not really a question.
