2023 NFL Trade Deadline: 3 Teams Who Need To Blow It Up

We have reached that time of the year when we have a good idea of who will be competing for a playoff spot and who won’t. Unfortunately, the teams who make this list, are on the latter part of those teams. These three teams should be mega sellers at the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline, looking to sell almost anyone who has value and turn their attention to the 2024 NFL Draft, as their respective seasons at this point are basically over.

Denver Broncos

The Russell Wilson experiment has been a complete failure. Seattle absolutely fleeced Denver, and the Broncos can use the NFL Trade Deadline to start to do damage control and get some picks back. Denver’s defense has been terrible all year, and the offense has looked stuck in the mud for major chunks of the year. This team has some pieces you can build around, so Denver should not be afraid to take calls on most players on their roster.

Trade Chips: Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Garett Bolles, Patrick Surtain II, Javonte Williams/Samaje Perine, Justin Simmons

Carolina Panthers

Where did it all go wrong for Carolina? Frank Reich was brought in to help develop number one overall pick Bryce Young, they put together a great coaching staff, and the defense looked primed to take the next step.

However, the Panthers currently sit at 0-6 and without their top picks due to the trade-up last season. This should signal a fire sale for David Tepper. Young appears well away from his potential, so now is the time to tear this thing down to the studs and take another shot at building a contending roster around him.

Trade Chips: Brian Burns, Terrace Marshall, Jeremy Chinn, Donte Jackson, Adam Thielen, Justin Houston, Miles Sanders

Minnesota Vikings

I hesitated to put the Minnesota Vikings on my list of teams who blow it up before the NFL Trade Deadline, but I went back and looked and they do have pieces to move. Call me crazy, but if Justin Jefferson decides to shut it down, I would field calls on him.

I understand that the idea of moving arguably the best receiver in football at 24-years-old is probably laughed at, but imagine the king’s ransom they could get for him. Remember, he still isn’t paid. The longer this goes, the more his ask is going to go up. I don’t think it’s out of the question Minnesota could field three first-round picks plus a combination of players and other picks.

If that isn’t your cup of tea, there are other options. The NFC North runs through Detroit now, and with how young that roster is, it is likely to stay that way for some time. The time is now to tear it all down in Minnesota and rebuild. Unfortunately for Vikings fans, they have Kwesi Adofo-Mensah making the draft decisions, who has a history of making awful choices.

Trade Chips: Kirk Cousins, Danielle Hunter, Ezra Cleveland, Brian Asamoah II

Honorable Mention: Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans
