2023 NFL Draft War Room: Philadelphia Eagles
If you’re not first you’re last! What can the Eagles do during the 2023 NFL Draft to help propel them over the top this year? It’s been a rough offseason for the birds but they’re well positioned to do some serious damage via the draft. Let’s try to go inside the mind of Howie Roseman for the Philadelphia version of the War Room series!
- 1st round, No. 10 overall – From the New Orleans Saints in a 2022 offseason trade
- 1st round, No. 30 – Own Pick
- 2nd round, No. 62 overall – Own Pick
- 3rd round, No. 94 overall – Own Pick
- 7th round, No. 219 overall – Own Pick
- 7th round, No. 248 overall – From the Minnesota Vikings through the Houston Texans in the Jalen Reagor trade
Having the Saints pick really helps but you’re working in an area of deficit when you have a shortage of middle round picks. For me, you’re targeting two or three guys. If neither fall you move down and hope to cash in on a star next year. In this scenario the way the board fell, we got our wish.
Given the fact that the Eagles don’t have a 4th, 5th, or 6th round pick, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Eagles move down. It could happen with any of the picks. I was able to do so in the second round to replenish the lack of picks down the middle.
We know Howie Roseman wants to keep this offensive line intact. The Steelers swiped Isaac Seumalo. Finding his replacement is imperative. You have to think getting one of those top tier guards at the back of the first seems like the ideal scenario. I think Eagle fans should be happy with this scenario.
The birds got hit hard in free agency. Filling up some of those holes on the defensive side of the ball has to be the priority. Finding another running back to replace Miles Sanders is another area that Philadelphia should address.
