Happy endings in fantasy is the goal. You know the deal by now if you have been paying attention. Who are the 2023 fantasy football OnlyFans at the running back position? Let’s go over the list!
Elijah Mitchell (San Francisco 49ers)
Jordan Mason applies here too but all I know is I want running backs that play for Kyle Shanahan. Christian McCaffrey has been hurt before and could easily go down again. Mitchell has his own injury questions marks but when he’s healthy, he’s been involved in the offense. Mitchell received 9.75 carries per game even after McCaffrey was acquired. That’s not nothing.
He’s also averaging 4.9 yards per carry during his career with the 49ers. If you’re going to give the guy away for free, I’ll take him because this is one of the top insurance policy backs in the league given the circumstances.
AJ Dillon (Green Bay Packers)
I love touchdown hogs and I feel like this is going to be the year where Dillon really takes off. Back to back years with at least 186 carries and now it should be even more of a run first offense to ease Jordan Love into the lineup. For a bigger back, he’s way more involved in the passing game than you would think. How does 80 targets sound over the last two years?
Dillon has proven he’s the touchdown vulture in this offense. The former Boston College product had seven rushing touchdowns compared to two for Aaron Jones last year. Speaking of Jones, we know running backs age fast. Jones, 29 in December, is starting to creep towards that magic number we’d like to avoid. This may be time to jump on Dillon instead. Oh, and he’s playing in the final year of his rookie contract too.
James Cook (Buffalo Bills)
I’ve been over this 100 times I think by now. I’ll just link the last post I did, which should tell you most of what you need to know. Sign me up for all of this stock.
Dalvin Cook (TBD)
We’re still waiting. I like Cook more if he signs with Miami. Mostly because the Dolphins don’t have an internal option that’s on the same level as Breece Hall. Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert have their own injury concerns. Devon Achane is just a rookie. The Jets internal options might actually be better. It’s not just Hall. Zonovan Knight was pretty good last year and Michael Carter has his role in the passing game. That’s not even including rookie Israel Abanikanda.
If it’s the Dolphins, I really like Cook. Has all the ability to be a top 10 guy if so. If it’s the Jets, you’re probably looking more in the 20 range. I’d worry that Hall’s workload ramps up later in the season as he recovers from the ACL. Either landing spot, the passing work should be there. This is one of the best screen running backs in the NFL.
Brian Robinson Jr. (Washington Commanders)
I think we’re underselling how good Brian Robinson was during a year in which he got shot. Robinson is the RB1 in Washington. Antonio Gibson has been relegated to that special teams / receiver back role. Robinson got 205 carries in 12 games during a season in which he was shot. Are you processing that information?
What do you think is going to happen this year? This is a Ron Rivera coached team that will play defense and run the ball. It’s also a Sam Howell led show. They’re not going to ask him to be a gunslinger unless trailing. I’d expect Robinson to get 250 carries and when that happens, he’s going to outscore his current ranking by a good stretch.
Javonte Williams (Denver Broncos)
Anybody that thinks Semaje Perine is a threat here clearly doesn’t watch football. Sure, you’re worried about the injury stuff but Williams was trending towards a top ten back prior to it. For Williams and Perine to be grouped together in the rankings is foolish.
Perine hasn’t rushed for 400 yards since his rookie year. He’s also not good in the passing game either. Williams is way more talented and this really shouldn’t be that hard to understand. Who cares if it takes some time. You’re trying to win a championship. I care about what the workload looks like in Week 15.
Rachaad White (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
I normally hate running backs on bad teams, but I’m actually willing to take the shot here. Running backs that can catch that are on bad teams isn’t such a bad thing. That’s what White specializes in and he’s THE guy for Tampa in the backfield.
I didn’t love White coming out of the draft but it was pretty obvious what kind of player that he was going to be in the pros. Good one cut and go guy that can catch. White had 50 receptions last year and now Leonard Fournette is gone. That’s 263 touches up for grabs not including the 179 White already got as a rookie.
Go look at the depth chart. It’s Ke’Shawn Vaughn and the dead corpse of Chase Edmonds. I like White’s odds to get a lot of volume and even if the Bucs are trailing, he’s the catch guy anyway.
D’Andre Swift (Philadelphia Eagles)
If you’re selling your D’Andre Swift stock, I’ll gladly take all of it. Swift is going to have a monster season with the Eagles and remains probably the most undervalued fantasy running back heading into the season. I think Swift has top-five upside while having the ability to snag the former Georgia product for a fraction of the price that it should.
What do you even want me to say? The ranker here is borderline brain dead. I get Swift in this offense behind that offensive line? Do you people understand what’s coming? If you don’t, I can’t really help you.
