Ladies and gentlemen, the NFL season has finally arrived. After all the waiting, all the talk, training camp, and preseason, we finally have football that matters. It almost makes a grown man want to cry. But there is no time to cry, not yet. Because the NFL Week 1 betting lines are out and it’s time to earn some cash.
I am joined in this money-making journey by other members of the Vendetta NFL team. Those joining me are Alex Chick, Garrett Burroughs, Matt Hanifan, and Christopher Chick. I, Jackson Law, will give my reasonings behind my picks. We’ve tried this in the past, but those writers didn’t really stick with it long. Hopefully, we can make a nice season-long game out of this, and the winner gets some bragging rights.
Enough talk. Let’s get to the bets.
Rams: Jackson, Alex, Matt Bills: Garrett, Chris
The battle of the Seans. Is there honestly a better way to start the football season? Both teams could easily see each other in the Super Bowl. For me, this bet hinges on Matthew Stafford being fully healthy, which Rams head coach Sean McVay says he is. The defending Super Bowl champs cover, if not win, their first game.
Saints: Everyone
Fairly self-explanatory. The Falcons stink, the Saints are pretty good.
Browns: Garrett Panthers: Jackson, Alex, Matt, Chris
On paper, the Browns have the better team. But Baker Mayfield is out for blood. Deshaun Watson will not be in this game and Jacoby Brissett is not that guy. We can rock with the Panthers this time.
49ers: Jackson, Alex, Matt, Chris Bears: Garrett
Two young quarterbacks battling it out in Week 1. This will absolutely be a matchup I pay more attention to compared to others. With that said, the Bears roster is really not great. Granted, the point is can they cover or not, and I am on the side that they cannot cover.
Bengals: Jackson, Matt, Chris Steelers: Alex, Garrett
The Bengals will be scary as long as Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase are in uniform. The Steelers are in such an odd place. It’s hard for me to really feel anything about them until I see something on the field. Until then, I’m rocking with the defending AFC champs.
Lions: Garrett, Chris Eagles: Jackson, Alex, Matt
Dan Campbell is an easy coach to root for, but his roster leaves a lot to be desired. The Eagles have a great chance to win their division and I think they get off to a great start against Detroit. The Lions will be more competitive this season, but it might take them some time to figure it out.
Texans: Jackson, Alex, Matt Colts: Garrett, Chris
Again, the Texans don’t have to win, they just have to cover. Davis Mills proved he can play football. Houston is not a great team, but they could be enough to cover Week 1.
Dolphins: Everyone
The Dolphins might be one of the most disrespected teams in the league. Eyes will be opened this coming Sunday. Miami to win and cover is so good here I’d even suggest putting it into a parlay. Arguably the biggest lock of any of the NFL Week 1 betting lines.
Ravens: Everyone
The Jets stink.
Commanders: Alex, Garrett, Chris Jaguars: Jackson, Matt
The key here is that the Commanders will be without Chase Young. Yes, the Jaguars have a new head coach and a young quarterback, and while I do believe Carson Wentz might still have some talent, there is no question the quarterback battle leans in favor of Jacksonville. Both these teams are on a similar tier for me. It’s a difficult pick, but the gut tells me Jacksonville to cover so I’m going to go with it.
Cardinals: Alex, Garrett Chiefs: Jackson, Matt, Chris
Another big-time matchup for Week 1. I can’t tell if the Cardinals are outstanding or a mid-team. They will be without their star receiver, but then again, so will the Chiefs after trading Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins. The game will come down to quarterback and coaching, which is a matchup the Chiefs win and cover.
Chargers: Matt Raiders: Jackson, Alex, Garrett, Chris
The Chargers are high on some people’s radar, but the Raiders are similar to the Dolphins in that I think people are criminally underrating them. Davante Adams is a game-changer for Vegas. Got to rock with the Silver and Black for this one.
Vikings: Jackson, Garrett, Matt, Chris Packers: Alex
The Packers are the most vulnerable they have ever been in the Aaron Rodgers era. Who is Rodgers going to throw to? Green Bay has a good run game, but there are just a lot of question marks about this team in 2022. As for the Vikings, they have a chance to win the division. Their campaign starts with a win against a division rival.
Titans: Jackson, Alex, Chris Giants: Garrett, Matt
The Titans are a playoff-caliber team, and the Giants are on Bryce Young watch. You do the math.
Bucs: Everyone
Does anyone trust the Cowboys? I sure don’t and neither should you.
Broncos: Everyone
Broncos country, let’s ride.
Well, those are our picks covering the NFL Week 1 betting lines. Wanna know how we did? Make sure to come back next week and see!
